I just played Virtua Cop 1 and 2 and something weird is happening. The game is not registering when I press the trigger all the time. Is this normal? I tried it on both 1 and 2 games and tried both and they do the same on both games. And then I tried HotD and it kind of does the same thing but to a much lesser extent.

Are you trying to play these games on a Plasma or LCD TV? If so then it's not going to ever work. The light gun games will only work on old fashioned CRT televisions as that's what the lightguns were originally designed for. If that's not the case and you have a CRT then you may just need to callaborate your gun in the callaborate options. Other than that I don't know what the issue is. Maybe try cleaning the gun lens.

I experienced the same thing playing shooters with Gun. It seemed to be a bit better when I opened the gun up and cleaned the lense. Pulling out the gun from the console then plugging it in again also seemed to help a bit.

That is mental! I didn't know any of this! Urgh. I used to play Virtua Cop on PC flawlessly (just about) and since I can't do one shot one kill with the light gun, it's incredibly frustrating. Or rather, I can for awhile until it stops registering. There was one section where I was shooting at the screen and it would either register I am shooting off screen or not shooting at all.
But thank you so much for the link, Yart - appreciate it.

grimmy, it still does even when I pull it all the way back. I am going to get some proper cherry dipswitches and have a friend help me do the mod since he is WAY better at soldering than I am. I haven't done any soldering since year 10 metalwork in high school.

Let us know how you go, I've been tempted to throw some micro switches into a light gun to see the difference. It's meant to make the triggers pull exactly like the arcade lightguns right?

Will do, umg. I haven't ordered the dipswitches yet as I need to find an Australian seller. I don't want to spend $4 on a dipswitch and $30 for postage. haha

I think so. I might go this weekend and see what we can make of it.

The Japanese guns seem to be much better when it comes to trigger response than their PAL counterparts.

I was too interested in the upgraded switches to even mention exactly what Holty has. He's definitely right though, if it is a 100hz progressive scan crt. You need a tv that produces 50/60hz ONLY! Check the back of your CRT, there should be mention of it? What brand is it?
Only the PS2's Guncon 2 works with 100hz CRT screens, and only one game doesn't work(Vampire Nights) for some reason.
