Hello all, The PSU in my only Saturn with a working CD-ROM drive finaly died. So decided to build my own. This is my second go at it. A PSX 1 PSU ALMOST fits.. which is ironic... This one uses liner regulators. So the 5V one puts out more heat then the big heat sink can cope with. I need to put in a double sized heat sink and it would be fine (Coper coloured one). Cos its to mall have had to add a small 5v cooling fan to it... 9V + 3.3V are all under 1A... so small heatsink is fine for them (green). Input voltage is 12V to 25V (ish) Due to cap voltages... Can tecnicaly go to 35V in MAX. I would hope an old laptop power supply should be fine :-)... In the pictures i'm running it on 12V. Alot of the parts are recycled (heatsinks from old motherboard). Its a bit "Ruff".. but its only the first one. If i made more would fix the heatsink size... D.

Is that 240v/110v going into your psu? Any issues with it so far?

Is that 240v/110v going into your psu? Any issues with it so far? Eigher :-). The 240v OR 110V conversion is done in an old laptop power supply. So makes it which ever regon you need. The board inside the saturn does the final voltage regulation. Heat is an issue... BUT only that's my fault.. as the 5V heatsink (the coper coloured one) is toooo short. In the picture i have a small fan sitting on it. I'm hoping to build another one with better heatsink for 5V.... My aim was to try to build a "universal" plug and play 240V / PAL power supply. At a latter date i want to try to build another but with a professionally made PCB. D.
