I tried it once myself and found it much too mediocre and didn't stick with it, but its been a few years since then. Is it worth sticking through or should I just leave this game be? What are your thoughts?

I'd say leave it be. The Saturn is enriched with far too many better RPG's to justify spending anytime on Shinning Wisdom. It's not bad but there are better choices. Plus the simplicity of the graphics might depress you having had time away from it. I don't think it's aged that well.

Yet that doesn't stop people from paying $100 for the U.S. version. I really don't understand that.

Get the PAL version, it's cheaper.

I already own the U.S. version, bought it for $45 actually. I live in the states anyway so I would never buy the PAL version of video game

Yeah, what Sych said. I played Shining Wisdom all the way through five or so years back, and even though I'm a huge Shining series fan I haven't been tempted to pop it in again. It has its bright points but searching for the dungeons can be really tiresome and the button mashing just gets so old. And in more of a direct response to your question, I didn't find that the later parts of the game are particularly better than the earlier parts.
Legend of Oasis is a somewhat similar game and plays much better.

I'll have to look up if anybody ripped the maps for that game.

After the first two dungeons I got distracted by something else, and when I went back to it I couldn't remember where anything was anymore.

It seemed awfully mediocre when I played...but I kept at it. Last time I played, I got to a part where you had to dash across collapsing platforms, and if you touched an enemy at all, it knocked you into the pit, and you had to climb back up. After that happened a few times, I gave up on it. Too frustrating. At least if you're gonna have a dashing across crumbling platforms part, don't have enemies that knock you in if you so much at touch them at all.

Shit game.
Was it a port of a mega drive game? I remember paying £50 for it when it came out. the whole game is one big frustration. Very few games I hate on the saturn and this bastard is one of 'em.

Very few games I hate on the saturn and this bastard is one of 'em. Not a port of a Mega Drive game per se, but Camelot were originally developing it for the Mega Drive. At the last minute Sega told them to rework it for the Saturn.
