Some of you may have read about this already. A few days ago, Tom Charnock from The Dreamcast Junkyard published an interview with, uh... yours truly actually, about our small team Retro Sumus and the two indie games for Dreamcast we are currently developing. One of them, Ameba, is detective adventure set in Madrid, Spain. A western-made visual novel we plan to release on both Dreamcast and Saturn. We know how crazy it sounds but we've been doing our homework and believe it's doable Interview and first screenshots available here! retrosumus.com/2015/06/ameba-xenocider-screenshots-interview-dc-junkyard/This was the original teaser video for Ameba:

Sounds interesting. The Saturn & dreamcast should be great for a platform for visual novels. Although I wonder if it really doable to make such a game and how much of a market one can find for it.
Good luck!

Suppose I'll have to keep an eye on this.

That's why A) doing our homework in advance, and B) probably going the Kickstarter route, are much needed previous steps for this. But after enough research we are 99% sure it's technically doable. Anyway. I'll keep an eye on these boards in case you guys have any questions

I actually really like the artwork in this. Huh.
Why Dreamcast and Saturn? Why not PC? As much as I love my Saturn and seeing more homebrew for it, for a game of this visual quality I'd like to see some 1080p images.

Windows / Mac / Linux versions have been planned from the very beginning

Oh ok!! I'm actually really happy about that. Your artist is extremely talented, and to have him/her restricted to the Saturn/Dreamcast's low resolution would be criminal imo.
Awesome! Looking forward to this!

Given the nature of the game, I take it you're going to have it running in the Saturn's hi-res mode, correct?

I mean: there are still plenty of Dreamcast and Saturn fans out there, but they'd have to be interested in homebrew and visual novels too, which will limit your target audience. The idea though is very nice and I do hope it will succeed.

I'm not tooooo into Visual Novel's, but if this were to release for the Saturn, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, haha Looks great so far, and am I right in saying that this would be the very first physical release of a Homebrew Saturn title? That there would go down in the history books!

Yes, first indie commercial release for the Saturn, ever. Hopefully we'll make it work

Do keep us posted on the status of the project - would love to support you guys if you head down the crowd-funding route. I'm definitely up for the Saturn version, but if that doesn't eventuate, a Dreamcast version would be awesome too! Good luck, and all the best

So if you release it on Saturn, are you guys coming up with a way for non-modchip users to play it?
