You'd have more luck asking that from him than asking it here.

Merged this with previous thread, no need for an additional thread.

I feel your pain, notshane. I hadn't realized you were having Windows issues as well, or I wouldn't have made that other topic. If you have access to Windows 7... otherwise, if you just want to play SS games, and not record them, perhaps you could buy a decent used laptop or PC with XP or 7, both of which work great with SSF, from my experience. (Can find one on Ebay without spending too much money.) I'm considering changing my OS to either Windows 7, which worked great overall, or Windows 10.
Not sure if changing the OS will do more harm or good though...anyone have experience with SSF and Windows 10?

I had no issues whatsoever with SSF on Windows 8 or after the 8.1 update, did nothing special when running it. Still no issues now after updating to 10.
This sounds a lot more like some kind of compatibility issue with something in the system.
Also notshanes issue has actually been sorted if he reads, comprehends and uses Google for 30 seconds.

Look, I spent hours "googling" it once and the only result that comes up with that error links to THIS thread that I posted. So, do not tell me right now that this is a "simple" problem.

The drama...don't know how adept you are with PCs but have you tried a clean Windows install yet? As in the OS itself.

If that "solution" was tweeting the creator for his contact email, I tried it and it did not work.
Otherwise, if there was some subliminal response that I missed, do not say "it was already resolved" just quote what the solution was to save us both some time. I am a pretty dense person.

It is resolved, you've clearly not tried EVERY solution that's been suggested to you. Different pads, different OS, different builds, clean OS install. One or a combination of these will work. Else take zyrobs advise and buy a fucking Saturn.

Else take zyrobs advise and buy a fucking Saturn. Then I guess I need to buy a new computer because it must be broken. I spend all day doing most this stuff to no luck. But, you don't have to be a jerk about it and say I didn't try to do any of that. If I did and it worked, I wouldn't still be here. At any rate, maybe the emulator just needs fixing; that is my final conclusion here. I have now put approximately 40-45 total hours into trying to fix this dilemma with no luck, so I am going to try to contact the creator of SSF again to see if he responds this time.

What OS did you re-install? Did you try the emulator before applying updates? Which builds did you try? Does it take 45 hours to format a PC? Why am I bothering?
Good luck with contacting the author, as you have adamantly stated you're THE ONLY PERSON EVER to have this issue. If he does respond, he will likely ask the same questions as us and so the cycle continues.

No problems here on latest build of Windows 10. Make sure you run Windows update (get optional updates too) and make sure to download the very latest DirectX end-user runtimes (do this manually, Windows Update often doesn't do it right).

If you have problems when defining the controls, then the problem could lie in SSF not being compatible with one of your input devices, for example some kind of exotic gamepad. But if you only have a standard keyboard and mouse connected, then that is unlikely.
You should try using older versions of SSF at either rate. They used to be more compatible. The newest test version from last year can't even switch to full screen for me, or even close without hanging up.
But really you should just get a Saturn.

The newest test version from last year can't even switch to full screen for me, or even close without hanging up. But really you should just get a Saturn. But, the emulator ran BETTER than a Saturn. I was using it for a long time before this happened and it never had any input problems until the end of summer, which I still don't understand how this is the case. And, also, one of the games I want to play was actually running at a full 60fps on SSF, well the Saturn was lucky to juice out 30fps at all from it. Also, it shaves load times very well, too. Though, this contributes to my computer being a huge powerhouse, too. I heard it only runs best on beefy computers. And now that I have time this weekend, I can finally try the other builds again. However, what I will do this time is try to erase any existence of any files that SSF put on the computer and try to put a fresh version on and see if that fixes the error. If all else fails, I will try to contact the creator again and see if he will finally respond. Because, as of now, this is honestly the best emulator I have ever used in a long time and it performed so well that I am not going to give up on it. As a last resort, even though I wanted to wait until it got better, I will try that free upgrade to Windows 10 and see if it really is the OS that is the problem. It is the only thing I have not done yet. Oh, by the way, is " SSF 0.12 beta R4" the most recent build?
