A little tip, it's easy to get hold of generic CD cases for Japanese Saturn games, It's just the standard 10.4mm Jewel cases with a black tray and hinge. e.g. www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/cd-jewel-casesI know it seems obvious, but if you're looking at a JPN game that has a cracked/ crappy CD case, don't let that put you off as it can be replaced for pennies. It's not uncommon to see ebay sellers trumpeting their game as having a MINT!!!!! cd case when in fact it's worth about 25p. It's the manual, back insert and disc that really matter...(and the spine to you completionists).

Now PAL replacement cases are another matter. What I've found is the later print runs of Sega Rally and Worldwide Soccer '97 as they came in the plastic case. They seem to be the cheapest option, and you can re-sell the unwanted game in your tattier case.
The point being, don't ever pay more than a couple of £ premium for a tidy plastic case. The sleeve obviously can be quite valuable though.

You can always look at Sega CD games for US Saturn replacement cases. BTW Sega Rally in a plastic PAL case may not be as common as you think. If you find a nice one you may want to keep it for your own collection if all you have is the cardboard one.

Exhumed got a plastic case version like that too. Supposedly Command and conquer has one as well but I've never seen it yet.

Yeah, I know they exist, they are just very uncommon. I remember this board suggesting using that game as a replacement case for Panzer Dragoon Saga, but I suppose that was due to it being perhaps the only double CD plastic cover case. Also, satakore.com only has pics for the French version in that case, oddly. Such as Street Fighter Zero 2, Cyberbots, Cotton 2, Techno Motor, Madou Monogatari, and others. Finding replacements for those? Good luck. Best you can do is grab a copy of Super Robot Taisen R (the cheapest and most plentiful game with such a case), and gut it for replacement parts. I wish we'd find a source for those covers, the reason I'm not bothering buying some great titles is precisely because they come in this piece of shit cover that, if it breaks (in transit even), you are screwed.

I have plastic cased C&C, I'll try and post a pic tomorrow. I'll save you the trouble, but if you have Virtua Fighter Remix & Exhumed in plastic cases that would be cool to see as I don't. Guys, Daytona USA CCE in plastic case comes with the same manual as the cardboard one, crap long thing with staples. Sega Rally and Command & Conquer though come with stapled manuals instead of the glued ones, (hope you can see that in the picture). Worth keeping that in mind if your looking for complete plastic case copies. Tomb Raider was also re-released in a plastic case. The easiest way to tell if you looking at a plastic case in a 3rd party picture is to check the corners as they are slightly rounder. If the picture is poor then look at the art work on the face. All plastic cases have repositioned art work, (the main picture & game logo) because the sleeve is slightly smaller then the cardboard covers. They are not chopped to fit but repositioned like the SEGA badge, compact disc logo and the game name logo in Daytona USA CCE's art work is closer to the edge of the picture, spacings will be slightly different in these areas... Once you know the slight differences in the face art work your know for sure what your looking at if you can't make the case out properly.

Ah didn't know this as I haven't got any of the games with a thick booklet.

Speaking of cases... I got a Dark Savior copy with a repro case (couldn't really understand it by the photo shown in the website) so i'm trying to get an original one.
Does any of you know a place where i can find original cases?

Does any of you know a place where i can find original cases? if you mean PAL then there isn't anywhere, you just have to look on eBay or get extremely lucky on a forum or local retro store. Best option if you want it soon is to buy a complete copy and sell the loose disc.

He basically prints out the cover in a sticker-like paper and puts it over an old 1st generation cover.

Is the old Playstation jewel case any use? I was given carton full of NOS many many years ago and put away in the storage. Guess I really need to pull them out and compared next to PS1 and other titles to be sure
