We had massive storms with tornado sirens blaring yesterday and it appears that my house was hit by lightning. So far it looks like the lightning has claimed a big screen tv, a washing machine, a toaster oven, a garage door opener, a home alarm system, and two of my beloved Sega Saturns. The white JP Saturn will not go to the boot screen. Black screen only but the power led lights up. The model 1 US Saturn goes to the boot screen but will not load games. It just goes black after the screen stutters a bit. I found that my other model 1 US Saturn is not working either but that is unrelated. I am feeling pretty low.
I do have a working grey JP Saturn and two other working US Saturns though but this sucks.

Oh yeah, the Google Fiber router and other boxes are fried too. No tv or Internet. And it's a holiday weekend here.

Wow, that's rough. You didn't happen to have the guaranteed surge protectors did you?

Nope. No surge protector but both were plugged into a power strip. Blew out both LED lightbulbs in that room as well.

Really sorry to hear and hope it won't be too long before your back on your feet again.
BTW you got away lightly as there is a massive storm system over Europe stretching from France to Poland and yesterday it claimed 11 lives from lightning strikes. 6 were stood under a sodding tree... They expect more strikes from lightning today.

That really sucks man, will your home insurance cover that? or is it the usual force majeure clause?

So far, everything is replaced except the garage door opener and the alarm system (and the Saturns). The insurance adjuster will be out here later this week but I'm not sure that I'm going to turn it in. It definitely helps to keep things in perspective MIK. In the big scheme these are just things that are replaceable. No one can replace those lives lost over there. My son keeps saying that the important thing is that we are ok. He's pretty smart for an 8-year-old.

A pain in the rear losing anything any way no matter how big or small.
It might be just the power boards in the Saturn's, or if they have completely gone don't forget the cases might come in handy if you need to swap anything. The outside of the machines can look the same quality as before of course.
I'm sure your already on it..., make sure you get the wiring of your home checked out too just in case there is some hidden damage.

So I ordered another white JP Saturn to replace the one that was blown out. I hope it is in good shape. But while perusing Ebay to replace my US Saturn I was surprised to find that US Saturns are now more expensive than JP ones! It took me years to finally pull the trigger on my first white Saturn as well as the grey one as the cost plus shipping was prohibitively expensive. In fact, I purchased both of mine from Saturn HST, a former member here who had great prices. I wish he still frequented the site. Anyway, I will probably by another two JP Saturns to have in reserve as they are pretty reasonable now.
