Need help with 3-D Controller Thumbstick RE-ASSEMBLY

Today marks the day I get my first Sega Saturn (Model 1) but I am not new to Sega, as I have a SMS, gamegear (RIP), and a gen(1HD)/cd(2)/32x combo.
Along side the many things I purchased today was a 3-D Controller. With all my consoles and accessories I love to rip them apart and make them shiny new again.
I dissembled the Thumb Stick and now I cannot for the life of me PUT IT BACK TOGETHER.
Its something about how the spring sits in there or something idk but now playing Virtua Fighter 2 is a pain.
SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP.
