I'm on the same boat. Tried everything but no avail.
Recently mednafen is supporting Saturn emulation, i've run it from OpenEmu but the framerate is terrible (probably due to my cpu is kind of old, core2duo Mac Mini mid-2010). What i do is bootcamp with windows, and run SSF from it. Runs some games fine (Sega Rally / Shinobi)

Some games dont run well on the emulator its just how it is. Most console emulators are like that, PS2 emulator comes to mind there are some games that glitch and run badly

As far as I know Yabause and OpenEmu both run pretty well on Mac. They just can't run some games such as Tomb Raider, though...
