Hey there, got an issue recently with my HST-3200 - when I turn it on, a flicker appears on screen (like a white line for 1 sec), then black screen, nothing happens. No intro, no sound, nada. But when I press Master Reset button on the back of the console, it resets date and time, and I can play the system again. After that though sprites seem jagged and picture is yellowish, and once the console is warmed up sprites look fine. Any ideas?

If it gets better after it had "warmed up", then I'd guess it needs to be recapped.

Damaged caps might not be obvious just from looking. Also, the power supply might need to be recapped as well.

So, i need to replace them with caps having the same power, or they are some propitiatory ones?

Just the same rating, and make sure the polarity is correct when installing. And get good quality caps from a reputable seller.

Start recaping from power supply and see if it helps, as it may be easier than recaping motherboard since the motherboard is multi layered pcb so there is a higher risk of a possible damage.

The problem was in bad caps on motherboard. Talking about Sega's "quality".

All electrolytic capacitors will leak eventually. 20 years is pretty darn good.

All electrolytic capacitors will leak eventually. 20 years is pretty darn good. No, they just lose their ability to retain a charge. Only defective caps will actually leak. For the record, I haven't seen Saturns that had leaky caps on them. But I've seen many that needed the caps replaced because they just did not work anymore.
