Hello everyone! About two years ago, I bought a sega saturn that turned out to be dead and I tried to fix it (console doesn't read game discs). That didn't turn out well though and it's still broken... Anyways a few days ago, I again started to try fixing my saturn. So I wanted to ask you guys, can I just buy a japanese model 1 saturn (as they're way cheaper than western ones) and put the whole disc drive into my pal console? The components should be the same right? I hope you can help me, I want to finally be able to play some daytona Greetings, Adrinator

Model 1s can use two different type of drives, as long as you get a matching one, sure. You can also buy entire spare drives on ebay sometimes.

Alright thanks! But what's the difference between those two drives? And how do I find out that it's the right one?

They are different drives that use incompatible connections.
What is the serial number of your console (not model number, but serial number)?

That one uses a 20pin drive. Look for either any HST-3200, or a HST-3210 with the serial starting with 051, 651, AD51, AE51, or B51.
