Ok, well I honestly haven't noticed anything wrong when playing my PAL games. And black bars aren't really a problem on the 42" LCD screen I use. I guess it could be annoying on a small TV. I dunno It is not a big problem to most people, I'm just picky when it comes to stuff like correct aspect ratio and speed . back in the 90's I only had pal games for my saturn, no 60hz switch whatsoever and I didn't knew about the pal/ntsc differences then. But now I find that pure 60hz (not pal forced in 60hz) games are a smoother experience then 50hz pal optimized games. let alone all those unoptimized pal games. This is also noticable for me in wipeout and wipeout 2097/xl, the jpn versions are just a smoother experience imo A lot of pal games which seem to run ok in 60hz also have some glitches; Galactick attack for example, when forced in 60hz and playing level 4, when you reach the part where the ground breaks open underneath you, the ground textures partly disapears. When playing the japanese version this doesn't occur. Skip to 6:20, It's not my video btw. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vSMCGhG1wA

Pal Wipeout Runs too fast if forced in 60hz, The timer runs out too fast. But Most popular games are "Pal optimized" so they run at their correct speed in 50hz. I personally gave up with pal games and went with the Jpn and us versions which are all fullscreen and fullspeed.

I got my saturn on a Ebay Auction in Almost new condition with box for 60 Euros. Sometimes You get lucky on Ebay. The 60hz switch is imo a must have on a Pal console, It removes those ugly black bars in your pal games and let most games run at full speed.

I don't think Doom supports the mouse, it doesn't even support the 3d controllers analogue stick.
Edit: Doom is compatible with the mouse but you cannot strafe

Nothing you can do, the picture on my small CRT is also cut on the left side. You don't miss out too much though.I think it has to do how your TV handles overscan.

Awesome! Saturn betas and prototypes don't pop up very often. Valuable? probably. I Don't collect any kind of prototypes, Maybe someone else around here. also try at the Assemblergames forum, maybe they can shed some light on these. There are alot of prototype and beta collectors there. Your English is fine btw ! thanks for sharing!

I'm with you there! I recently got cotton2 and although I'm still feeding it credits , I absolutely love how the game is designed with those gorgeous 2D levels, Lovely parallax scrolling and awesome huge bosses!! I still have to fiddle out the chaining technique but I haven't played it that much so that won't be a big problem I guess. The looks of the game got me interested in the first place, and after trying it in ssf I was sold. I'm a sucker when it comes to 2d games, So yeah, a no brainer, at least for me.

I just finished resident evil on the saturn. I completed it with Chris and Saved Jill . Such a great port of great game. I missed out on this game back when it was released so it was my first playthrough.

I bought astal 2 months ago and sold it last week cause I didn't like it as I hoped I would. As much as I like the visual style of Astal,The games has a unfinished feel to it. The levels are empty, Lots of the same enemies, no secret paths just go straight forward and the Controls feel akward in hectic situations.
Rayman is so much more in every way. the visuals are nicer to look at and the gameplay feels a lot better to me (hard as F**ck though).

Get Rayman it's cheap, challenging and has great deal of replayability. I think he was asking for saturn exclusive titles

keio flying squadron 2, is a nice looking platformer. and you got supertempo which was released in japan only. both are real colourfull platformers and look quite unique. I never played either of them though and both are hard to find and pricey.
