Anyone remember where the Ankhs are? I've found four, but can't find the other two.
Online says they're in Karnak Sanctuary behind a green gate that doesn't exist, and the other says the left tunnel after the key in the sunken city (which has nothing). I assume the guide is for the PSN version and they're in different places.

I've heard good things about side pocket 3. I'm not into snooker games, but that one sorta interests me now from the good press it gets!

The story is laughable. You're supposed to be performing in a movie. Wtf is the moving? A bug running around on a square, linear, maze, hanging, platform in the middle of nowhere? That's deep, man.

MOST SURPRISING: Casper
I honestly thought this was gonna end up being garbage, but it's surprisingly decent. It's quite a chill exploration game for the most part, although occasionally you do end up getting lost with no idea what to do because you missed a switch or something stupid. Either way, I thought it was gonna be garbage but I rather enjoyed it.
BEST MUSIC: Jung Rhythm
I'm terrible at rhythm games. I try my best and can make some progress, but anything outside of guitar hero and I fail miserably. Despite that, I had a lot of fun with Jung Rhythm. Sure, it's a Parappa the Rapper clone, but the songs are really catchy and it's worth replaying it just for that!
BEST VISUALS: Astal
I hate how the protagonist looks. He looks like a stupid mutated caveman. And honestly, that alone put me off the game for ages. Once I started playing it though, I realised that the protagonist is the only badly designed thing in it. The rest of the world and the enemies are absolutely stunning. Fun game too!
BEST STORY: Clockwork Knight
It won purely because the other stories were almost non existent. CK does have a reasonably solid setup for a platformer though.
MOST PLAYED: Casper
Purely due to the length of the game.
HIDDEN GEM: Jung Rhythm
Being a Japanese only release, not a lot of people are aware this exists. Shame really, since it's actually pretty cheap!
BEST GAME OF 2020: Astal
I had this in my backlog for ages because I honestly didn't expect to like it. It really is DAMN good though and I was wrong to put it off for so long! Recommended for everyone, although get the Japanese version. The US one is made obnoxiously tougher for reasons.

As is tradition, with the end of the year approaching, it's time to evaluate the games you have played this year.
This year has been a bit poopy in general, but hopefully you have played some Saturn games that brightened it up a bit. Unfortunately my Saturn ended up in storage for most of the year, so I haven't played that many. Which is a shame.
Categories are:
MOST SURPRISING:Which game surprised you the most this year? Maybe it surprised you in a good way, or maybe in a bad way. Maybe you were surprised by a story or gameplay twist. Maybe you were surprised because you bought a CEX version of Panzer Dragoon Saga and the game inside was actually Hardcore 4x4. Whatever the surprise may have been, which game surprised you the most?
BEST MUSIC: Music is quite an important part of a videogame and many Saturn games have killer soundtracks. Which was the best for you? Be it atmospheric music that adds to the game, or whether it's a banging tune that sticks in your head, which game would you consider to have the best OST from what you've played this year?
BEST VISUALS: The Saturn is a 2D Powerhouse, but there are also some fantastic 3D games too. Regardless of what you found most impressive, which Saturn game this year blew your eyeholes out with its aesthetics.
BEST STORY: A story in a videogame is like a story in a porno. Everyone expects it to be there, but it isn't very important. Carmack quotes aside, some Saturn games have some cracking stories. Which videogame from this year had the best story?
MOST PLAYED: Some videogames are damn long. Especially JRPGs. Others are time investments due to difficulty. Some are just so damn addictive that you want to play them again and again. Either way, which Saturn title took up the most of your time this year?
HIDDEN GEM: I mean the whole damn console is a hidden gem, so many games are kinda unknown to many. Which relatively obscure game did you play this year that you think deserves more love from the world?
BEST GAME OF 2020: And of course, the finale. Which Saturn game for this year would you rank as the best one you have played. Not your fave Saturn game of all time, but from what you've played this year.
Throw them in the comments below and I'll share mine in the comments too!

No saves, not even a password. You have limited lives to beat in one sitting.
There is a level skip so I'd recommend using that as a makeshift password system. Skip to the world/level you got up to and continue from there. Beating it without a code is commendable, but screw it - this should have had a password save to begin with. It's not short/easy enough to warrant requiring one playthrough and they should have known that when they made it.

I assume that's a joke. I can't really tell if you are being serious or not. Shinobi isn't that hard. Stage 4 gave me some grief because I didn't know how to get past some dude or other, but the game isn't so bad. It has some hard parts, sure, but I don't think it's any harder than most Shinobi games. Also Bug and Shinobi are very different games. I don't think comparing the difficulty is very fair. I'm very good in some games and terrible in others. Being good in one type of game doesn't automatically make you a god of all games. Shinobi X wasn't that hard. I had issues with the difficulty levels in Bug 1 and II and Three Dirty Dwarves and it a shame as I wanted to play and enjoy all the levels in those games, but they were just too hard. Same goes for Mr Bones but didn't like that game anyway I like Mr Bones in general but the difficulty is all over the place. I get that all the levels are meant to be unique, but it fluctuates between levels that are straightforward to levels that are ridiculous tough. It's also compounded by having to enter the options menu and selecting the level manually every time you die. It's unnecessary and frustrating. Shame really since when that game is good, it's really good.

I'm very good in some games and terrible in others. Being good in one type of game doesn't automatically make you a god of all games. It's not a joke, I don't know a single person that has ever completed it. So congrats on that achievement. I'm just surprised as I remember your frustrations with Tomb Raider which I also share so the fact that you were able to withstand Shinobi X shows resilience. Of course they're completely different games but they both try ones patience. But certain games click with certain people as you pointed out, I often hear Enemy Zero, X-Men Cota, Athlete Kings, Radiant Silvergun and VF2 are too hard but to me they're a breeze. On the flipside of that Dark Savior scenario 5 I could never unlock no matter how hard I tried and Darius Gaiden I could never complete. So I get it. Well done. I think the issue with Enemy Zero is 'getting' the combat system. I find that I have to revisit the training whenever I want to replay it just to get all the noises and timings down. Once you've got that down, it's not too bad. The game is definitely punishing though when you mess up. As for Tomb Raider, it wasn't that it was hard. More just frustrating design. I felt like the crappy controls resulted in failure more often than not, and when you have an instant death fall and a save point really far back, it feels more annoying. Especially since it was rarely your own fault. I also struggle with stuff like Darius Gaiden, but I suck at that kind of game anyway. Not played Silvergun but I also imagine it would cause me issues!

Never played either Bug game but Shinobi is a bitch.I can get to the level with the mine carts(level 4 i think) but then the urge to throw my pad out the window becomes uncontrollable. I think that's either level 3 or 5. I wanna say 3. 4 is the one inside the ninja building and has those annoying sword guys. The mine cart thing is a little irritating. It's basically just memorisation, with failure for not knowing exactly where they are going to come. Most mine cart levels in games tend to be like that for some reason! I remember the one in Taz-Mania being equally as annoying!

I was hesitant to get the game since I really don't care for most RPG games. However, on the Retro Game Squad podcast, the host (who also doesn't care for RPGs) really started praising it a lot. That made me risk it. Glad I took the chance. It really is an excellent game. It has an interesting battle system, good story, isn't massively long, no endless grinding, etc... ie, none of the shite I hate in most RPGs Still not worth the price, but it's definitely a fitting end to the Saturn Panzer trilogy

I have Shinobi X and have beaten it I didn't think Shinobi was that difficult to be honest, but I am a big fan of the series so that probably helped. Glad to hear the sequel is a lot better. Whilst I enjoyed my time, it was quite obnoxious in many places. I think I'll probably pick it up at some point to play. The original certainly piqued my interest.
