Do you have action replay? You can transfer saves from the memory card before the game boots and then transfer it back to the card on a reset.
What the technical solution is I don't know, but open up the Saturn and make sure the old battery hasn't leaked onto the motherboard? Make sure the system reset button isn't stuck in etc?

It's either going to be the laser or even the spindle needs reseating. If the spindle has dropped slightly it can cause this issue. You could experiment by adjusting the pots slightly as well to increase the laser power.

jonah lomu is actually an amazing sports title. one of the best rugby games ever made Really?? Maybe I have to give it another go. Picked it up not long ago. Couldn't get into it. Personally I preferred Rugby World Cup 95 on the Sega Mega Drive. I actually played it for hours when I bought it. Really well crafted game from what I remember. Horribly under appreciated

Hello guys.
I have the action replay 4 in 1 so I have been using that for 4mb games.
Is it worth buying the official 4mb cart? Some people are saying the action replay can cause problems with the cart slot and can become Unreliable over time as they're not built amazingly well.
I'm about to fit a country switch so will not need the 4 in 1 soon enough.
Should I go and buy the official 4mb cart? Any benefits?

Follow up to the above, a friend hosted a Halloween party a few years back. I brought a wii with 2 gun attachments for the remotes and the great house of the dead game and hooked it up to a projector. People were playing it all night. It was really popular.
There just isn't a console out there right now to accommodate these games

I pretty sure light gun games have declined as crt owning customers has declined. Its a now tiny market, the economics doesn't stack up. The wii had a lot of "light gun" games as the system came fully equipped for it.
Virtua cop 3 if made would be really popular, but it would fall under the same problems as xmen vs Street fighter did in the west. Will people pay $100 for it and the hardware to make it work? How popular has the kineckt on x box been? Not really heard much about it.
It's just bad economics.

I never thought of that Davyk. The only way it could work is by the way it works in the main game, the high score screen must just continually draw a white refresh and the guns sensor is working without you pulling the trigger.

You sure its not a dodgy scart cable? Have you tested it on a working Saturn? Try a RF or composite video connector? If scart cables are not wired correctly you can get the flicker when it turns on.

Its the way the screen is drawn. The crt fires electrons across the screen at a rate that you can't see, but its refresh rate goes from left to right constantly. When you press the trigger on the gun, it flashes the screen white for a moment (you can sometimes see this flash in games) and the lightgun registers if it saw the white dot. The game knows the refresh rate of the TV and works out what time it saw the white dot, then it knows where on the screen it was. Its a quirk of crt images used intelligently. Modern flat screens have static pixels, so the game has no idea where it is pointing at. Its why the Wii used a sensor bar to detect where it was pointing.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any correlation between the international teams and the club teams in SWWS98. Eg, Alan Shearer is the best striker in the game, but all the England forwards stats bear no relation to his Newcastle Utd stats. So they are all just random players in both SWWS97 and 98. I think some of the international players are even named after the SSM editing staff and others from Sega Europe. So I edited the first 11 from a old Panini sticker album and some friends knowledge during a long school summer holidays. The only likenesses are in the club teams.

Ahh.. Heel lift is up,down,up+B. I figured out the step over, double tap direction when moving. On game faqs they had it as up,down+B and it wasn't working at all I'll try this out later Jumping over tackles seems to be a bit random, but seems to happen more often if you tap left trigger to run as they slide in. I think it appears random as it maybe connected to your players stats. Good players seem to do it more often. I've picked up SWWS98 as I only owned the original before. Like the SSM review of it said, there is no difference really apart from the club teams in it. Its nice to play as the old 1997 Chelsea team with Vialli's bald head being represented I don't know why they didn't update the international teams in the game, but my old save file from SWWS97 was so extensively edited with the teams that if I want to play a world cup I'll just boot up that version of the game. Its a pity the goalkeepers are so crap in this game though! You can literally kick the ball through them sometimes. Its still pretty fun to play even now though.

I noticed that my TV has some bad lag. It doesn't show much apart from in fighting games like xmen vs sf where commands need to be put in quickly. Would a scaler help with this? I don't really have room to set up a second crt TV

Seeing a lot of these on ebay. Are they worth getting? I'm really getting into xmen vs Street fighter and I think games like Athlete kings will be good for it. Does it make a difference for games that suit it?

How many of you have played Sega world wide soccer 97&98 on the saturn?
Playing it again recently and there are moves the ai does that are not in the instruction manual. Step overs, jumping over tackles and a "flick up" move where they run and flick the ball over their head. Any ideas how to do these?
