Thanks for the replies, everyone. I also noticed that two points near the power plug on the bottom had the solder melted off on them. Thankfully I got someone to resolder it today, and it works now! One thing I did notice though, even after the soldering job...the left side of the Saturn gets quite warm after about 15 minutes of play. I heard that this exact PSU has heating issues anyway, but this seems unusual...
EDIT: Oof, I already said that last part and zyrobs already gave a solution :/ If you guys have any more solutions to that though, they would all be very welcome
EDIT 2: What parts would I need to replace to fix the overheating btw?

It looks like my Saturn has a faulty PSU. It only turns on if the power cord plugged in is pushed up or down. I looked on Ebay for a new PSU that my Saturn takes specifically, the Fujitsu KS350-1401, and the sale for it has already ended.
Is there an alternative to that PSU that I can use (I already know about the homemade SaturnPSU), or another place that I could find that PSU? I heard that that PSU specifically has heating issues (which I did notice with mine), so an alternative I could use would be great.

Yup, reseating the buttons worked. I was hesitant to do it at first because I once opened up my Genesis controller for fun and spent hours trying to fit the buttons back in by placing the top on last. This time I put the buttons in the holes on the front cover first, then the rubber pads, the board and the back. Needless to say, it was much easier. I also forgot to mention that the Start button also kept getting stuck after pressing it a few times in a row, which has also been fixed. Now I can switch cameras both ways in Panzer and Daytona, drift properly in Sonic R, etc. Thanks for the help!

Hi,
The right trigger on my MK-80116 Saturn controller is very unresponsive. It takes about 10 hard presses to work, and even then I have to press it down hard at just the right spot for it to work again. The left trigger works fine, and is also more clicky than the right trigger. I'm guessing this is a common problem on pretty much any controller with trigger buttons, but I would like some help with this one specifically.
Thanks!

Oh my God... ...it was the swap trick of all things. Only swapping the disc once might have not been getting all of the data on my CDs, causing them to have strange glitches while playing them. I'm really happy, but I'm also kinda mad; I already ordered a 25pk of Verbatim CDs and a replacement laser. Well, I can use the Verbatim CDs to burn off more Saturn (and DC) games, and keep the laser somewhere safe in case the one in there dies. Thank you to everyone who helped me. Now I can experience some truly great Saturn games!

Okay; is there a proper way to do this? The way I have been doing it is pulling the spindle right off with my fingers and fitting it back on, using the plastic piece as a guide.

It's probably going to block the laser if I move it down anymore.

So I adjusted the spindle like you said; at first I set it too high for the laser to recognize, then I lowered it a bit, back to the height that it originally was; it read normal discs again, but burned discs still suffered from the same issues. According to what I've read, the gap between the spindle and the protective plastic piece on the assembly should be about 1 mm, which is what mine was already set at.

It is possible that the laser is fine but the CD tray is out of position (too low or too high up for the lasers focus). As in the plastic cover for the unit or the spindle? Don't think it's the issue, but it's probably best to provide some pictures of my unit.

At this point I can definitely blame the problem on the laser. I also tried cleaning it with Windex on a Q-tip, which still didn't work (as in it didn't play burned games properly. It still plays normal games fine).
Also, turning the orange screw in my Saturn is very difficult; the shape on the top of it that the screwdriver goes into is misshapen, so it's hard to turn unless I have just the right angle and pressure. Last time I had to take out the laser assembly to get the right angle to turn it.

Using a perfectly working MDF/MDS still didn't work.
Also tried dialing back the power of the laser since I thought I turned the screw too much...still didn't work. It has to be my laser that is the problem.
Do I need a replacement? Real games still work fine on it, so I don't know if I should replace it. I also heard about twisting the axle the spindle stands on upward to make the laser read it better, although all discs can still spin freely on the spindle and the real ones read perfectly.

Okay, I used a different burner, and it still gave the same result. I'm starting to think that the problem stems from the image.
For the next burn, I've mounted an MDF/MDS file into a virtual drive that I have tested in an emulator beforehand, where it worked perfectly. I'm going to use CloneCD to burn the virtual drive's files onto a blank CD. I'll let you guys know if it works or not.

Argh! It's still not working. I've tried re-calibrating the laser and everything. I might have to use a different burner.

Alright, I calibrated the laser by turning the orange screw clockwise slightly, and it didn't do anything.
Must be a problem with the CDs, my burner or the burning program. I'll try it again using Verbatim CDs and the CloneCD program.

Thanks for the info. How would I go about calibrating the laser in a Model 2 machine? All of the tutorials I'm finding seem to be for Model 1; or does it matter which model it is?
EDIT: Whoops...I was searching for replacing the lens. You mean cleaning it with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol?
EDIT 2: Nevermind; you mean calibrating the power of the laser with the orange screw on the assembly, right?
