Finally this week we have the Capcom bridemaids in PAL/US territory. So which will it be: Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge, Mavel Super Heroes or X-Men Children of the Atom? Pick one and list your reasons why in the comments. MARVEL SUPER HEROESNIGHT WARRIORS: DARKSTALKERS REVENGEX-MEN: CHILDREN OF THE ATOM

Hmmm, all three are good in their own right, but have different flaws....
Marvel super heroes- the long load times are annoying. The slowdown is a bit much as well. Gameplay is good, but overall, a bit disappointing on Saturn.
Darkstalkers revenge- a good port, graphically spot on apart from a few issues. Plays really well.
X-men Cota- first fighting game I owned on Saturn. A great port despite some missing frames. I have always rated this, solid gameplay if a little slow at times, the visuals make up for it. Gets my vote.

I can still remember first playing X-Men: Children Of The Atom on the Saturn, as it was around the same time I got to sample the similarly great Street Fighter Alpha. However, Capcom raised the bar considerably with Marvel Super Heroes, so this gets my vote. As is so often the case with these polls, there's always one game that never really clicked with me, and in this instance it's not just Night Warriors, but the entire Darkstalkers series (sorry, fans). On that note, did you know the original Darkstalkers was intended to be a spin-off using the Street Fighter II engine, only featuring monsters licensed from Universal, who withdrew support for the project? Shortly before they launched the incredible VS franchise, we nearly had a crossover from Capcom that would have included such iconic characters as The Hunchback Of Notre Dame, The Phantom Of The Opera, Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Invisible Man and The Creature From The Black Lagoon... Now there was a missed opportunity!

Have to vote for X-Men Cota on this. Being able to play as Magneto and Juggernaut in X-Men Cota is 10 times better than playing as Dr. Doom or Thanos in MSH. Plus none of the chatacters are watered down like they are in MSH.
I also prefer the Arcade Mode in X-Men Cota better than MSH. Having the opportunity fight Akuma in Arcade Mode really opens the game up. And as secret characters go, Akuma in X-Men is a much better character than Anita from Darkstalkers in MSH.
Which moves me nicely along onto Night Warriors: DS. I've always loved the game but I was never obsessed with it like the other two. I tend to play it's sequel more than this now.
So my vote goes to X-Men: Cota

MSH had a lacklustre character roster and I never really understood the gem mechanic. Plus the game was superslow, even at 60Hz.
Being a huge X-Men fan, I almost want to give this game my vote. The character roster is awesome and who didn't dream of pitting your favourite X-Man (mine was Wolverine) against some of their coolest villains? The single player experience is insanely hard though and the slow speed and missing animation frames of the PAL version take it down a few pegs for me.
While not as good as Vampire Saviour, Nightwarriors brings together an ensemble of memorable and quirky characters in a crazy, fast-paced versus fighting game. It has a great charm to it and is unique enough from Capcom's other fighters to make it worthwhile. It only just edges out X-Men because it's a smoother, easier, and more fluid experience.

Night Warriors.
OK - the moves are just SF moves rehashed - but I LOVE the character design. Lovely animation and overall style too.

I've voted Marvel Super Heroes believe it or not. I never actually played the others after initial try outs (sold them both) as I prefer X-men Vs street fighter and Vampire Savior.
I know people slate the speed of it, but I enjoy MSH for the gems gimmick, and am happy that it's very easy to beat. Sometimes you need an easy game to play through for 20 mins.

Marvel Super Heroes biggest fault is the poorly programmed AI difficulty in single player. Had that been proper, then the game would be fantastic.
As it stands its unique enough (with the gem mechanic) and the 2 player mode is perfectly balanced.
I always found the NA NTSC version to run fine. There is no doubting that its not nearly perfect like the following RAM supported titles, but not nearly as slow as its made out to be.

Okay still playing through X-Men: Cota and loving it. I put up a video recently on how to fight Akuma on Arcade Mode which begs the question, has anyone actually managed to beat Akuma on Arcade mode? I can't seem to beat him with any character other than Storm. He just seems way overpowered. I even tried using Collosus to match him but Akuma made mince meat out of him as well as the Sentinel. Wolverine got real close as I kept healing myself every now and then but Akuma eventually beat me down. I then tried thrashing him with the bosses Magneto and then tried with Juggernaut but he still beat me. I'm trying with Spiral now but the task just seems near impossible. Any tips? I don't want to keep using Storm to thrash him as that gets old.

COTA because it was the original game that upped the ante from Street Fighter 2, giving you giant characters and a gigantic playing field to duke it out in, and combos could reach well into double digits now. Also it had quite different gameplay from the later Marvel VS titles; movement was stiff but many moves were affected by your momentum greatly (for ex. do a dragon punch type move during dashing, and you'll fly forward a lot more), and it had heavy counter hit damage bonuses. It wasn't just blindly focused on stupid 100 hit air juggles. Night Warriors had great character design but I feel the gameplay only matured enough by the third game. It was SF2 with superbly animated monsters. MSH was also good and as good as COTA, but it played different, closer to the later Marvel VS titles. Normally I'd rate it equal to COTA, but the Saturn port of MSH was unplayable due to its heavy slowdown. MSH had a lacklustre character roster and I never really understood the gem mechanic. Each gem gives you a certain powerup, for a limited time, when you activate it (QCB+PP). Increased power, speed, restoring health or special bar, throwing random fireballs when you attack, and I forgot what the last one does. Some characters get special bonuses with certain gems, like Spiderman gets a body double or Juggernauts gets hyper armour. The most useful is of course the green Soul gem which restores health. It helps to understand if you read the comics the game is based on. They are pretty good, as far as cosmic stuff goes, way better than the horse shit the recent movie made Thanos into. readcomiconline.to/Comic/The-Thanos-Quest/Issue-1?id=42207#1readcomiconline.to/Comic/Infinity-Gauntlet-1991/Issue-1Also: it had Spidey, Hulk, Blackheart, Shuma-Gorath (who is originally from Conan the Barbarian, and is the size of galaxies...), both bosses from COTA as playable characters, and it also had DOCTOR DOOM as the sub boss. How is the roster lacklustre?
