Probably one of the hardest polls I've ever done. Here we have 3 very different games going head to head in a 3 way duel for the crown of: Best Saturn Exclusive. So which will it be: Dragon Force, Nights Into Dreams or Panzer Dragoon Zweii? Pick one and list your reasons why below in the comments. DRAGON FORCENIGHTS INTO DREAMSPANZER DRAGOON ZWEI

Gotta vote for Nights. One of my fav games on the Saturn. Especially love playing Christmas Nights every year.
Just such an original game and so much fun to pick up and play. Just love the overall atmosphere.
PD Zwei is really good too, another one of my favourite Saturn games, but I have played Nights wayyyy more.
Also, never have played Dragonforce, so no way to vote for that.

Sych did you consider Nights with the 3D platformer poll? I find it tough to match Dragon Force up here.
Nights is definitely a top 5 game for me but the other 2 are in that category as well.
Dragon Force was the one Working Designs title that was able to be enjoyed in both NTSC and PAL regions so everyone could get a chance to play this classic.
I call a 3 way tie but edge to Nights just slightly.

You're killing me with Dragon Force here, but it easily goes to NiGHTS. Not even close for me. NiGHTS is one of my favorite games of all time. Completely timeless, never really gets boring, always offers a surprise, and beating your high score is always a joy.
Dragon Force is pretty dope. I loved the atmosphere, music, general concept, and the story, but once you figure out the combat, it becomes very repetitive. It's just rock, paper, scissors essentially. I can't imagine trying to beat it with each general, what a yawn.

The only problem here is you can't chose the three.
Panzer Dragoon Zwei is my absolute favourite when it comes to nostalgia. Nights is all about magic and simplicity and Dragonforce is a game way ahead of its time.
Three masterpieces.

It's very hard to put Nights in the platform box as it doesn't share any of the common traits of a platformer. I know exactly what you mean though, as many reviewers and some gamers in the past often referred to Nights as a platform game but that was mainly because they wasn't quite sure how to place it. But you raised an interesting point Derek, how does one categorize Nights? What does everyone else think? Still haven't made my decision though.

NiGHTS is a platform game, just an untraditional one. Platformers are about collecting items (coins, rings, etc), progressing from level to level, and fighting end of level bosses. NiGHTS has all these things (the chips, the Mares, the Nightmaren). Of course there is more to NiGHTS, like the score attack approach and the A-Life, but to me, these are just an evolution of the core platformer mechanics the game employs.
Still, it's such a magical game.

I've never understood Dragon Force. The game drops you in the middle of this really dense scenario without giving you much of an idea of what you are supposed to do or how you can succeed and it isn't forgiving. At all. I found that too jaring to get any enjoyment out of it. It seems impressive but I just don't get it.
NiGHTS and Panzwer Dragoon II Zwei are two of my favourite Saturn games and I'm really hard pressed to choose between them. On the one hand you have the magical atmosphere of NiGHTS, which is a highly replayable game. The sense of flight is wondeful, the graphics and worlds are beautiful, the soundtrack is sensational, the bosses and worlds are imaginative, the arcade-paced gameplay is addictive, and the simple story is very evocative and touching.
On the other hand, you have Panzer Dragoon Zwei, which is a touching story about the bond between a boy and his dragoon. It looks and runs very impressively, the soundtrack is very evocative of the onscreen action, and the gameplay is smooth, addictive, and rewarding. The dragon evolution system, beserk attack, and multiple routes really add to the game too, as do the options in Pandra's Box. And there are moments, such as the first time your dragon takes flight in Episode 2 that are shiver-inducing, really add to the game's cinematic qualities.
If I was being objective, NiGHTS would have my vote simply because it's perhaps a better and more replayable package overall, but Zwei holds a special place in my heart, so it just edges out NiGHTS and gets my vote.

Still, it's such a magical game. Calling NiGHTS a platformer leads to issues. How can you have a platformer without jumping? Are the games Deadcore and A Story About my Uncle not platformers since they have no overt collectibles and no bosses? Is Zelda a platformer due to the bosses and collectible? I can see where you're coming from here, most platformers have the elements that NiGHTS does and I can see the influence platformers(Sonic in particular) had on NiGHTS, but it lacks jumping. I usually think of NiGHTS as simply an arcade game. IMO, most classify games like Frogger, Pacman, or Space Harrier as arcade games and not much more. Which leads to a few problems. Arcade games have huge difficulty spikes, lives, and have to be released in an arcade. But the other elements are there: addictive and repetitive gameplay where the objective is getting a high score. Past that I'd feel comfortable lumping it in with racers since you have laps and your main objective is to complete each lap in the shortest amount of time. Really interesting question there. I'd like to hear more thoughts on this.

If you ask me, NiGHTS can't be put into a genre. That's what I like about it so much. It shows what happens when you completely go against every single convention and make something completely original and incomparable. There's surprisingly few games out there that are purely "genre-defying" like NiGHTS is.
NiGHTS is my favourite game on the entire system so this isn't a hard choice for me, however I haven't played Dragon Force yet. Panzer Dragoon Zwei IS an excellent game too however, although not really my thing. I've never been at all into these kind of rail shooters other than Lylat Wars, and while I love Panzer Dragoon Zwei's atmosphere, world and visuals, but it's gameplay I'm very indifferent to. I can still enjoy it, but can't really love it.

For me it's a draw between Nights and PDZ. Both brilliant, just depends on my mood. I voted PDZ to give it some love. Perhaps it edges it slightly...

As much as I enjoy Nights, I've never been completely inlove with it. It's a game I'd play maybe once or twice within a year, do the first couple of levels then I'd get bored.
It was a toss up between Dragon Force and Panzer Dragoon Zwei. Both games have great replayability but Dragon Force just edges Zwei for me. Out of the 3 games on the list, Dragon Force is the game I enjoy the most so it gets my vote.

I'm going to abstain from voting on this because the games are too different.

I want to choose Nights since it really went against my expectations. I played the demo on XBLA and hated it. Claris´ first level is garbage, and I could never beat that godawful dragon boss. Despite this, I bought the Japanese version of the game to give it a chance (because it was cheaper than the PAL version) and I loved it. Claris´ first level is definitely the only bad stage and I think they really shot themselves in the foot using that stage for the demo instead of Eliot´s stage.
I´m going with PDZ though, since that game is a masterpiece.
