Have only played Firestorm and Soviet Strike and for me, I'd have to go for Firestorm.
I put so much time into this game when it came out and loved it. Great mission set ups, choosing your loadouts, music, voiceover etc. Haven't played it for years so not sure how it holds up.
I was a huge fan of the Megadrive Strike games but was underwhelmed by the 32-bit ones at the time. I recently picked up Soviet Strike so will give it another chance.
Not really heard much about Titan Wars.

I've only played Thunderhawk 2 on PS1, and tbh I'm not a fan.

Five years ago I would've said Soviet Strike but for me Titan Wars is the clear winner. This is a classic example of SSUK website influencing my choice of games over the years as it was actually Martiniii and his obsession for Titan Wars/Solar and everything Crystal Dynamics that made me finally buy the game and when I did I wasn't dissapointed at all. Very under-rated gem of a Saturn game.

Definitely Titan Wars/Solar Eclipse. The closest any third party has gotten to Star Fox, IMO.

I´ve just beaten Titan Wars for the first time, and I have to say that I will stick with Soviet Strike. Titan Wars is fantastic, and within the first two levels I thought it may be one of the best Saturn games..... and then the game started kicking my arse, quite unfairly.
The difficulty really is over the top. You need to memorise everything to get anywhere. Lylat Wars was quite an easy rails shooter and this is the opposite end of the scale. The final boss for example requires you to stand in front of the flamethrower that isn´t firing.... and you can only do that by memorisation. A bit unfair when you have a life system. It´s a shame, really. Even just having unlimited lives would make a big difference.
For me, the Panzer Dragoon and Sin&Punishment games are the best in terms of difficulty for a rails shooter.

Congratulations! I still can't beat Titan Wars, I'm on the 4th level I think. Only the previous member Martiniii I knew of had completed it but now knowing you have by memorising your technique, I'll give it another go. Such a great game.

The game is pretty much just memorisation. If i went back to it in a month I'd probably suck again and have to relearn everything.
As I say, it's a shame because it makes a fun game a bit of a chore.

I ALSO LIKE ALL 3 ON OFFER HERE... but, ultimately, I think Firestorm is the overall best game of the 3.

Soviet Strike is a very fun , but very difficult game, make one mistake and its mostly mission over.
At least the Saturn version supports the 3D controller.

It´s a shame, really. Even just having unlimited lives would make a big difference. The final boss's flamethrower follows a simple pattern, so even if you're too slow to react, there's no need for memorization. Indeed, memorization in general isn't needed or even terribly helpful in Solar Eclipse/Titan Wars. It's a game of learning how the enemies attack and how the different power-ups work, and exploiting the terrain to best advantage. I actually once beat the game on a single try after not having played it for two years. Weird that you would name Lylat Wars as the other end of the scale, given the amount of memorization that game's controls demand, between the inverted flight stick, the pushing in two completely random directions to reverse direction, and the accelerating by pushing... left? And here you are complaining about no unlimited lives when Lylat Wars doesn't even give you any continues!
