3 reasonably priced shumps up next. Which will it be: Strikes 1945 2, Gunbird or Donpachi? Pick one and list your reasons why below. DONPACHIGUNBIRDSTRIKERS 1945 II

Did the same studio who made 1945 make Cobra for Genesis? The sprites look so similar.
I'm gunna have to vote for the one I haven't played and go with Gunbird. That sprite work looks pretty sweet if you ask me.

Went with gunbird since the others are better on PS1 from what I've read.

Donpachi is not a good port on Saturn, don't know what happened with it, as it was converted by atlas, who are usually great. Main issue is slowdown. I quite like it though, despite its flaws.
Gunbird is a classic shooter, it does everything right, but isn't loud about it. Gets my vote. Looks amazing in Tate mode.
Strikers ll is not a bad game, but it's a bit flawed. The original strikers is a far better game, and as far as I'm concerned is one of the best shooters of it's type on the Saturn

Might have to look into both now. I have no doubt that Gunbird is the clear winner here though. Out of interest is Gunbird better on the PS1 or Saturn?

I can remember buying mobile light force on PS1, which was the name gunbird was released under in the U.K and U.S. it was the worst port imaginable, in fact it was a disgrace. I can't speak for the PSX version, never played it. I'm highly recommending this game, its short but sweet and a must have. As for strikers, I'd say they were both worth owning as a collector. As a gamer, When it comes to arcade ports, it's down to how close the conversion is for me. Strikers2 may have slightly improved graphics, but is a mile of the feel of the arcade. Strikers1 is totally spot on, and it's available for £20-30, half the price of the sequel.

Marc I had gunbird on ps2 and it was horrendous is it worth getting as I have both strikers and it is climbing up the price guide. I could kick myself for not snapping it up when I had the chance for 6 quid.

I could kick myself for not snapping it up when I had the chance for 6 quid. Definitely worth getting. It usually goes for £25-30, it's kinda stayed at a low price for years. A very popular game in Japan, so availability is good. Looks and plays great. If you rate the first strikers game, you'll love this one.

VOTED STRIKERS 2... As it's my fave of the 3. Unlike Marc, I actually prefer Strikers 2 > Strikers 1 - irrespective of arcade accuracy etc

On the Saturn it has its "issues", but it's still really playable. I'm in hair splitting territory here, I won't deny it. Both good games, but the port of Strikers1 subtley edges it because it NAILS it.

No worries As it happens, I have BOTH games for Saturn, PS1 and on PS2 - so tend to play Strikers 1 on Saturn and Strikers 2 on PS1. Win win. Similarly I play my Donpachi's on the PS1 > Saturn
