PAL games have been going up in price over the last 10 years or so , I remember there was a time you could get games like Burning Rangers for £30-35 (its what I paid for it circa 2009), wheres now its around £100 or more. Deep Fear used to cost around £70 at time time too , and I regret not getting it at the time (I have the Japanese one of course).
That said , its important to note that Saturn games from all genres are going up in price, and I would take it a step further and say that even PS1 games , as well as N64 are going up in price.
Its really a combination of nostalgia (the people who grew up with these systems are now in their 20s, and have more money) , and the occasional crazy collector.
I suspect that in a few years , you will see PS2/Xbox/GC games go up in price too , they are already starting to.
Funny thing is just like Sync, I also got rid of a few PAL games for their Japanese equivilants, mainly the Virtua Cop games, Sega Rally, Tomb Raider, Virtua Fighter 2 , Steep Slope Sliders etc. I ended up making a bit of money from that.

That's funny because I think PAL prices in Australia are actually going the other way. Down. I bought a copy of Swagman off a member on this forum 6months ago for $380aud.
Two complete copies of Swagman have just sold very recently for $175aud and $145aud!
Gotta admit, feeling a little burnt on what I paid.

PDS prices have shot up haven't they? I sold mine last year before regretting my decision and rebuying, and ended up paying £200 for it. Now it's going for £300+!!

Now it's going for £300+!! 10 years ago PDS was worth around £150-200 depending on the condition , though I managed to get it for about 1/3 of that. PDS might not be a good metric though since it was already a rare and expensive game. The first 2 Panzer games are crazy though , since you used to find them for about a tenner , wheres now they can easily get to £50

For Burning Rangers I would go for the Japanese version , You would be missing out on the voice navigation , but otherwise its playable.
It was about £30 about a decade ago.

Yeah but for some reason owning Japanese versions of games just doesn't feel as special... I guess it's the exclusivity

I'm gonna have to disagree with that. The voice navigation is absolutely crucial for later levels. I'd say if you cant afford to get it in English then get a different game. It's no worth the hassle and it'll frustrate the hell out of many which would cheapen the experience.

Fair enough PAL versions aren't unplayable or anything, but playing slowed down arcade ports isn't fun, and even the optimised stuff can have issues. My advice is that its best to get a modded system to play most PAL games at 60hz at least. I don't know, I don't even use the voice navigation all that much , its a relatively straight forward game, although it does certainly add to it.

Or just use one of the 3 or 4 ways of playing the English language versions of the game for free and get on with your life

The big heavy hitters in the US market have really gone up. I remember when I started collecting in 2011 PDS was about 200$ Canadian. Now I routinely see it go anywhere between 600 and 1000$!!! Burning rangers and some of the other titles have shot up too. So much so that I don't even bother looking at them anymore. The common game prices are still pretty consistent, but any of the so called "rare" game has shot up immensely. exactly. us prices have become crazy. pal not really.
