You'll need at least two carts. There isn't one that will do everything.
The 4-1 & 3-1 are the same just different production dates so you're safe with whichever is cheapest.
For Cd-rs you need a pseudo Saturn cart.
As far as a UK seller, one of the other members can direct you.
I tried to find the pseudo I use but they're not listed at the moment. It had a switch for normal memory use.

So I just pop that in and I'm good to go when it comes to cdrs? Can I keep my saves on console, and just make sure my battery is swapped for new one every month? Or do I loose save games, moment when I pull battery out? If yes, that's redicolous

Japanese memory carts. Found the pseudo I prefer rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F153119197574Has a switch for memory, 1mb & 4mb ram. This and an AR cart, you're set. EDIT the Saturn cart slot can be a pain. Some have multiple Saturns so they never have to remove carts. Yes, an unmodified Saturn looses it's internal saves when the battery is pulled. A Fram mod is needed. There's a region free bios and modchips for cd-rs too. There's also a floppy disc option for memory.

Glad you mentioned that!
I usually have games backed up so I change mine no earlier than a year.

Action Replay allows you to do cheats, play imports (original discs), and has 4mb expansion. But every time you boot you have to go through the AR menu. It does NOT allow you to save in-game, you have to go into the AR menu and copy saves over. Note that the cart has a reputation of bricking itself and losing the saves. It also bugs out with a few SNK games that require 1mb ram expansion.
AR flashed with Pseudo can play backups and imports. It still has the 4mb expansion (bugs on some SNK games that need 1mb). No save function whatsoever. You have to use the boot menu to run games and compatibility isn't 100% with backups.
Only the normal Backup carts allow you to save ingame.
You can't have RAM expansion and backups in the same cart at the same time, in-game. Games can only use one function or the other, since they mutually lock each other out.
Personally I'd go for a modchip and a Backup cart. The RAM expansion isn't that useful, and you can always just switch carts for the few games that need it.

No that's a regular memory card.
The pseudo won't work.
Nice to have though as now you don't have to be as concerned about the battery.

Don't know much about how much you should pay for saturn, but I hope I've got a good deal. Got regular pad, and virtua one. Memory card, steering wheel. Console it self in immaculate condition Box for everything including manuals, even for rf cable. Paid £100 for all of that, is it worth that money? When I was looking at eBay, you get just a console for about £60.
