I realise there are a million threads on the internet about Framemeister input lag, but I was hoping to get the thoughts of people here on the subject. The projector I want apparently has 17-24ms lag and the Framemeister 24ms. Will that suffice for games that require a lot of precision e,g, platformers and shmups? If I go for the OSSC instead, which has no lag, I may lose some compatibility (can't play N64...). Therefore I'm trying to assess the pros and cons given my specific set-up.

While looking at OSSCs, a Retrotink 2X can take care of your other needs.
I owned a Mini and sold it after a couple months. None of the sets I own had acceptable lag with it. 24 is noticeable on it's own.
I use a xrgb3 (+ vga to hdmi adapter) and OSSC on different tvs.

Ok, thanks! I didn't know about the Retrotink.
So my total lag time should be 17-24ms max for the RT + OSSC + projector. I'll probably still notice, but it's still a massive upgrade on my old LCD TV.
One final, cheeky question -- will I increase the lag time if I use 1) long HDMI cables; or 2) a SCART switcher?

lol no, unless you react quicker than the speed of light I wouldn't worry Also we hope to have our new universal N64 RGB mod done before the end of the year.

Thanks for the lol I bought a long USB cable for my hifi system and it's shit, so I wondered if there was a correlation. I assume PAL RGB mod would be better given superior image quality. Cheers

Framemeister is not optimal for the Saturn simply because many games change resolution modes very often in-game, and the Framemeister takes a few seconds to regain the picture when that happens.

I'll be treating myself to an OSSC at some point merely to enable more retro gaming on my modern TV to save wear and tear of my decent CRTs and my excellent but ageing plasma, I've already had the flyback go in my Sanyo this year and a tube failure in my little portable trinitron so I'm down to just 2 CRT TVs now.

The retrotink with a non-modded N64.

Yes, a rgb modded 64 will have a better picture.
The retrotink s-video line in will be very nice but not better.
