So I've recently started started Dark Savior and I noticed something in the manual. Wooth, the blue Pig guard, is among the player's captured units. The thing is when I fight Wooth, the capture option never shows up. The only other info I've found is an LP having the player mentioning he doesn't know if the pigs are capturable. I've found zero other info and no site seems to list which enemies are capturable. Is there something I've missed for capturing Wooth/A PigGuard or is this an error in the manual?

yeah, the game needs a boost in popularity to get that kind of scrutiny!

yeah, the game needs a boost in popularity to get that kind of scrutiny! Having tested it, I'm pretty sure Wooth is uncapturable right now, at least in parallel 1, which the manual picture seems to be in based on their collection of characters. Is there a way to get coder to look for more action replay codes in the game? I'm positive there should be a character modifier at the very least. This is also kinda of out there, I know, but if a de-censor patch/hack is ever released for the game, I imagine adding the ability to capture those bosses wouldn't be so hard.

Complex, but I'm looking through it. So I now I'm sure Wooth is 100% not capturable in all paths, so that manual image was from an earlier build. We should add that The Cutting Room floor or something similar.

There always seemed to be a few enemies you couldn't capture, that said I recalled getting one or two that seemed very hard or somewhat random to catch like you had to do something special in the battle?? It's been 18+ years since I last played through the entire game, so I can't recall who I did and didn't catch.
Could be version changes as well, western version got censored with some of the pickups.

From what I've seen so far, the uncapturable enemies are: * All the Bilans: Though two variants are playable through the second player cheat in the tournament parallel. * The Knights riding skeleton horses * The Pig Guards. I've seen a play through of the Japanese version and capture never appeared for Wooth. I'm pretty sure he's removed in all versions. I have heard some of those, like Bio lets you capture the scientist very easily, as does Copper with Gold, but everything tried vs the Pig Guards didn't work.

Kind of off topic, but how do you get VS mode after beating parallel 5? I'm using an emulator and I'm pressing start on player 2's key during it, but nothing seems to be happening. Do you have to beat all Parallel's first?

Do you have to beat all Parallel's first? According to Sega Saturn Magazine's guide, yes, and you need the progress saved. (Interesting that they mention that second part, given that Saturn emulation was a long way off at that time.)

(Interesting that they mention that second part, given that Saturn emulation was a long way off at that time.) Figured that would be a case, though no cheat site mentions it. I guess they figured everyone would've already beaten every parallel by the time they figured out how to get to parallel 5. So I made a small list of the moveset for the unplayable bosses I've encountered. If anyone is interested, feel free to point out errors. Devil Knight:
Weak Attack: Lance Strike
Back Attack: His steed kicks one leg back
Strong Attack: Horse turns backwards and kicks. Note he appears to do this for his air attack as well.
Special attack: His skeletal steed breathes a short stream of fire.
PigMan:
Weak Attack: Headbutt
Back Attack: Farts sending a smoke cloud
Strong Attack: A fiercer headbutt
Special attack: Farts rocketing him forward a bit, the smoke from behind can also hurt.
F- Bilan:
Weak Attack: Stabs with his hand.
Air Attack: Unlike almost everyone else, his air attack is unique. In its, he slaps down with both his arms.
Back Attack: Backhands with one of his clawed hands.
Strong Attack: Morphs his arms into needles and extends them.
Special attack: Extra arms come out of his chest and a short range electric beam emerges.

Love this thread. Dark Savior is one of my favorite Saturn titles. I never got into collecting the monsters though. What do the monsters do? Is it like a game of pokemon?

The captured enemies just work like any other playable fighters in a fighting game. The trouble with the whole capture system is that if you send a captured enemy into a fight and lose, it's game over, with no opportunity for Garian himself to try. This effectively discourages the player from trying out captured enemies, since the way they handle is unfamiliar, and most of them are outright less powerful than Garian, so it's much safer to just fight with Garian every time. However, you get bonus points for winning a fight by capture, so it makes sense to try to capture a few enemies even if your plan is to never use them.
