Although it's unlikely you could use any of the source code from the old versions in a remake (apparently Naughty Dog hardly used a shred of the original Crash source code for the recent remake, for instance) it's still going to potentially tell you things like internal game mechanics and suchlike, which for an RPG would be quite useful to know indeed, but even for something like Dragoon 1 and 2 could make the game play more faithfully to the original.

M2 are a class act. Their port of Cave's Mushi Futari to the 360 is stellar. They are! Shame they're not involved with this!
