well i have owned a 2 model 2 saturns and have noticed a weird thing.
When the disk loads and you hear the laser moving part of the screen seems to jump, not the whole thing but like one part of it.
For example when you have the SEGA (licensed by etc) the center of the sega logo would jump a lil.
a bit hard to explain. when im far away from the tv u never notice it but when i get a bit closer i do. i did have a model 1 at one point which didnt have this problem (from what i remember).
any ideas what it is??

It will be electrical interference between the video chip and the laser unit. It happens on PS2s a lot also - nothing really to worry about unless it's severe.

The only way to really prevent it, would be to shield the Video chip from the Laser or move them considerably far apart.
Either way it's a lot of work and I'm not sure that the overall outcome of the result is actually worth it.
I think on PS2s, the problem might be slightly different, I notice on a lot of PS2 games, when the disc drive is loading the fields on interlaced video seem to line-double a little, essentially the resolution gets effectively "halved" for a fraction of a second, resulting in a little "jump".
It is particularily noticable on Virtua Fighter 4's loading screen. the "Now Loading" text appears to jump up and down as the laser moves.
