So, did you enjoy any flying games that you enjoyed back then and eventually would recommend them to Saturn lovers these days?
I have to say that I really, really, really did enjoy Firestorm: Thunderhawk 2. I liked everything about it, the fully 3D graphics (despite the short drawing distance), the kick ass soundtrack, the voiceovers, the mission briefings, the various loadouts of your weapons, the variety of missions...It was the closest to a helicopter simulation that you would get on the Sega Saturn in the day. And then if you had a Mission Stick, then the enjoyment of the game have doubled, no kidding.
I also enjoyed Wing Arms, always thought and hoped, that it had the potential to turn into a successful series...
Honourable mention goes out to Soviet Strike.

I have Soviet strike but my first impression was terrible. Maybe I will give it another go. Some helicopter game (Black fire i think??) was terrible.
I enjoyed Wing Arms myself quite alot. Sky Target is another decent flying game in the Afterburner vein.
I also happily admit I quite enjoy a good run of Independence Day on the Saturn.

I remember being quite impressed by Soviet strike. It's basically Megadrive Desert Strike on steroids but that isn't a bad thing!
I prefer arcade flying so Afterburner II and Space Harrier are enjoyable (even though I'm very poor at Afterburner) I like the look of Galaxy Force 2 on Saturn.

I could have Soviet Strike compared with another game, it was probably 7+ years since I played it. Don't know how I forgot AfterburnerII! I also am not the best at this game but really enjoy it. the graphics are so crisp.

I loved Soviet Strike but it was just a little too hard. Thunderhawk was good but I still feel the Mega CD game was better, I too also enjoyed AB II and Wing Arms. I have to say Black Dawn is really good, Darkflight is nice and loved flying around in Bulk Slash, Panzer Dragoon (if one can count them as flying games)
I've never played Independence Day but read its really nice and much better than the PS version (which is always nice to read too)

First I've heard anyone say either of those things. For flying games on the Saturn, it's always Solar Eclipse a.k.a. Titan Wars for me. Like the man said, alpha team's the place to be!

I like Solar Eclipse alot, but dam do I find that game tough! That being said I play it like once a year so if I were to actually sit down with it I'm sure I could progress quite far.

It goes some decent reviews at the time too. But I never liked the film and never got round to picking the game up. May have too now, I guess

It is maybe time to give it finally a go.

Team Andromeda cmon the film is the best Will smith punches out an alien! Tbh I know the movie isn't the greatest but I really like it, and was one of the few people I knew genuinely excited for the sequel. I totally recommend the game if you can get it for a decent price. The planes handle surprisingly well if memory serves.

I'll admit this isn't my favorite genre, but I like Galaxy Force II for its superscaler technology, and also Stellar Assault SS. great music, huge pixel explosions, and makes use of that "infinite plane" concept that panzer dragoon did.

Stellar Assault SS looks so cool, but I can't justify its price tag
