What do you think about the Saturn reproduction games? Normaly i prefer getting the orginal games, which is no Problem as I have a Japanese Saturn and many japanese games are very cheap. But with some Story driven games buying a English Version would be the better choice.
By coincidence I found out that etsy offers lots of Saturn reproduction games I would be interested in.
PS: I know in theory i could also just burn my own games if I am into reproductions but I do have to Equipment of doing it, and besides that the covers of the etsy games look nice. They have some artistic value for myself so I am willing to assist this People.
Do you have some experience with the etsy Repro games already and would you recommend going for it or rather not?

piracy argument aside, I hate the fact that you need a modified system to play Saturn repros. It's important to be able to reproduce more than just the look of the original product but the functionality too.
I'm all for it for the earlier cartridge based systems where "cartridge burners" aren't really a thing, but it seems kind of pointless on the Saturn and the other disc based systems with how easy it is for anyone to burn a disc.

Some Repros also work with a pseudo Saturn catridge. I Need to get one These too in order to Play this Repro. I am not interested in modding my Saturn.

I pretty much think reproductions are pointless. Just emulate it for free, at that point.

xDerekRx No sorry did not see your thread. But the stuff of the guy you mentioned seems to be really good. I will check it out. Thanks for the tip. exodus I am diehard console gamer, not a pc gamer. Prefer playing on real Hardware on a real big Screen and not a tiny pc Monitor. For just playing the games that are rare in their original form, this Repros are a good way to enjoy these old games without paying a fortune if you prefer using original Hardware like myself.

I'm happy with repros as long it is clear that they are, and that the quality is good enough.
I've only ever bought one repro game - Musha for the Megadrive - simply because I couldn't justify the cost of an original (£200 or so) and I just don't like emulating console games. The game runs great and the packaging and manual are decent. Not brilliant quality but pretty good - just about good enough for my tastes, but I wouldn't buy a lot of them. There are a few other expensive MD games I may get but I wouldn't build a collection around repros.
Problem with Saturn games is of course they won't run on an unmodified console. and since I kind of like my consoles like that then repro Saturn games aren't really for me. However repro packaging and manuals if done sufficiently well would interest me as it could help collectors buy disc only games. The only Saturn games I don't yet have I'd be interested in playing would be some shmups most of which I can play in MAME anyhow.
yes - that's emulating - but for some reason I'm happy with emulated arcade games. The experience with shmups is extremely accurate and later games ran in generic cabs so a decent USB stick recreates the experience satisfactorily. Console games feel different when emulated.

I mean - you can connect a laptop to a big screen TV and use a USB Saturn pad. Hopefully you're not playing on an HDTV, because then you really should be emulating, because it's the wrong delivery format anyway.
I don't do emulation myself, but I don't see the sense in paying for a burn that someone else made. Like... just burn your own ISO if you want to play it on a saturn? Sounds like you've got your mind made up and want to buy repros though, so maybe you should just go for it!

Well yes I am playing on a 4K TV but using a framemeister, so no Problem with the Image Quality. The Image Quality is great. And as I said I do not have the Equipment to burn the stuff myself.
And it is not that I want to get many Repros just a few. And only Repro from game that would either cost a fortune or did not exist at all.
in fact am just thinking of 2 games. I already have the japanese versions of Enemy Zero and Policenauts for example but I want to play these 2 Story driven games in a language that I can understand. The English Version of Enemey Zero is quite expensive, and there is no official Version of Policenauts. So I have to find alternatives

Is it 'usual' that copied games/reproductions have issues? I bought a Saturn with a repro collection. Whilst many of the games work fine all the way through, a few are freezing (usually at the completion of stage one). Just trying to work out if this issue is my Saturn itself, or likely the individual games?

I only think on repros for things like the external box of games like Riven, Enemy Zero, etc. A burned CD only for homebrews, betas, unreleased but not retail games, at least not paying for a reproduction.

I like the idea of repros for translations of games that aren't readily available in English. If they are available, expensive or not, I'm less keen. I love the repros SaturnDave is doing, but sadly they're only US releases at the moment and I want them to match my PAL collection. Has anyone brought repros from this guy: gunslinginninja-thegamer.dudaone.com/store/Reproduction-Games-c24331674?

I, personally, picked up a PseudoSaturn cart and a repro copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga and was happy with my purchase.I think it can be warranted for playing on the original hardware, if you just want to play the games and dont want to spend an arm and a leg, or if the game isn't available as presented, in any other way. As far as PDS, I, in no way, was going to spend $600-$1500 on any game, so the repro purchase of sub $20 was well warranted, working, and obviously marked as a repro.

I also got a copy of Panzer Dragon Sega and it was worth it. Sticking to Repro is the only way to Play the game without paying a fortune. I am happy with the Quality of the Repro.
Same goes for the Quality of the other Repro games I got Deep Fear, and the English Translation of Policenauts.
I am also interested to get one of these
www.gsn.ninja/store/Sakura-Wars-English-Translation-p161498686
unfortunately it is out sale at the moment.
Hope it will be on sale again soon.
