I noticed some strange thing with the screen. Here are there "screenshots" so you can see what I'm talking about Ignore those black lines, that's beacuse I took the picture with mobile. Notice some light and dark blue lines that are on the right of the "boxes". Something like this appears always on the right of some static object, those lines "flow" up, it's not disturbing cause it's not visible during play when everything is in motion but in menus etc. it is clearly visible. I'm wondering is it my Tv (10 year old 14' Philips, but there wasn't such problem while I was playing on PS2), my scart cable (a bought a new one from ebay) or the Saturn. Does anyone has or had something like this?

This is dot-crawl, caused by the use of shitty Composite video.
Your SCART socket either does not support RGB, or your SCART cable is not RGB.
It should be more noticeable at 60Hz than at 50 due to the reduced color carrier frequency.

Does your TV support NTSC?
Your TV might support NTSC composite... that video sure as heck looks like composite.
Do you use an RGB Scart for your PS2? And if so, does 60Hz show in colour?
I doubt its the cable, don't go buying a new cable, if that cable is RGB it's RGB.

Yes my tv supports NTSC. For PS2 I used an AV composite cable, the 60 hz worked fine. I don't remember if this dot-crawl appeared when I played Saturn years ago on the other scart cable though.

Chizzles is right: composite behavior. SCART cart doesn't always mean RGB. You can think about 4 issues: - your cable is not RGB: check the number of pins available on both of its sides - your TV doesn't accept RGB signal, but I don't think so according to what you said - your TV just takes the composite signal out of the cable and not the RGB signal. Do you have some info/menu where you can check which signal is taken or where you can change manually the type of signal ? - the internal chip of the saturn that makes the RGB signal is dead.
I hope it helps.

Madroms, I don't think the RGB chip in the Saturn should be at fault; The Saturn's composite is composited from the R G and B output as far as I'm aware, the process inside the Saturn is analog. Feel free to correct me of course

Thanks guys for explaining it. But still this rgb, composite stuff is just black magic for me lol. So what's the general advice how to get rid of dot-crawl? If you already wrote it then sorry I just don't get it... I remember one thing: the pin layout on the scart cable I use now is a little different than in the previous one, but I can't comapre them now cause I got rid of the old one months ago...

Hmm, maybe I have a bad memory of some threads on our french forum where someone said one of the chip (?) (a little square one near the plug) was burnt and so only composite signal came from his saturn . But you could be right To get rid of those dot-crawl ? => use RGB (or s-video) and not composite, this is the only way and this is why you must try to find where the problem is from.
