So Ive been trying to do a 100% Quake run which Ive never tried all these years. (100% kills and 100% secrets) However on level E3M6 Chambers of Torment I can only get 55/56 kills. I have played the level 5 times, combed every inch of the level and can not find the last enemy. All I can think of is that its some kind of glitch? Im using Paul Mode (inv) to play through the level hassle free over and over. But its upsetting because now Ive basically moved on at 760/761 kills more than 75% through the game! Not sure if anyone else wants to jump to level E3M6 and see if they can find all 56 enemies lol.

Interesting, Its a shame you cant noclip on Saturn Quake, then at least you can se eif the last enemy was moved out of bounds with some sort of alteration in development.

Yeah I actually even went around shooting rockets at every wall. I thought maybe somewhere in the last 20 years someone would have mentioned this on a forum when trying to 100% but probably just not many that cared for this version. Maybe I should email Ezra lol? It is kind of sad Im a few levels away from the end and my totals are 946/947 and 70/70 secrets :/

Now you know why the level is called Chambers of Torment.

Alright so I went on youtube to see if anyone tried to do a 100% run of Quake Saturn. I found this video where a guy tries to get 100% secrets on Chambers of Torment for Saturn. www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkmZWShZOZwHe ended up getting 55/56.... and in the comments I found another person 4 years ago with the same issue! Looks like Ill have to consider the 100% run just without the last number. Ive seen people open up Saturn game files in hex editors and so forth. Maybe I can hack the level data

I didn't even notice this problem until just now, but if none other than Ezra Dreisbach can't help solve the mystery of where to possibly find that one last enemy you need for a 100% ranking in E3M6, I'd suggest getting in touch with a homebrew programmer known only as XL2 - they've recently been showing off a first person shooter developed using their own engine with assets ported from Saturn Quake, so it's likely they know how to check anything produced in Lobotomy's original tools, which I believe were called SlaveDriver and Brew.

So I ended up finishing Quake today. The only thing I ever find a slight letdown with Quake 1 is the final boss. Its confusing to figure out how to beat first off but also just isn't anything more than a medley of the games enemies. The first episode probably has the only real unique boss.
Final kill totals were 1145/1147 and Secrets 105/105
I forgot to take a picture but after you beat the game the counter doesnt work and simply says 999/999 kills. Although on the save screen it does say your totals.
There was another level near the end that also had a missing enemy that I confirmed with another youtuber that was looking as well so 2 total enemies you can't find.
One more fun tidbit. Im not 100% but of the 105 secrets they seem to all be exactly like the PC version except for 1! There is one level where Lobotomy made their own completely new secret in place of a regular one (made it a pain to find it)
The Easy mode does have a lower kill count and I might play through that mode to see if I can get a real 100% number
Also Ive owned Quake since it came out and I play through it ever 2 years but this is the first time I did a thorough playing of it. I found so many easter eggs I never knew existed!
There is also a cheat in the US version that I only found by finding one of the developers (Jevon) entry on Gamefaq where you can have it rain on every level that has an open area which is pretty cool
I think Im going to do my Duke Nukem 3D playthrough next and I want to finally do a 100% run in that game as well. See what hidden things Ive missed. I do know that Duke has less stuff and was a bit more rushed (like a couple of the secrets don't contain any powerups). But Lobotomy didnt just make a few great titles on Saturn, they added so many cool little things to the North American versions (which is odd as they always talked about trying to cater to their large PAL fanbase). Powerslave has the Dolls and Death Tank. Duke Nukem has deathtank and the great Netlink modes. Quake has the comic, secret levels, apartment level etc.

Actually doing an EASY mode play through now just for fun. Easy mode has less enemies per level. Going to see if the totals lineup. Also its just easy plowing through it pretty quick on this mode so its fun.
I also entered the rain cheat at the start to play with rain on every level through the game and so far its a very cool touch. Almost totally changed the atmosphere.

Alright just ran through the game on Easy There are only 790 total enemies on Easy mode as opposed to 1447 on Normal/Hard modes My goal was to simply see if Easy mode had no missing enemies like Normal... and the answer is... sorta. Unfortunately the very last enemy, the final boss once killed does not count as a kill!! I actually read that in a FAQ just after. Oh well. So on Normal/Hard 3 kills are missing and on Easy the final boss doesnt count. Here is the final stat screen. Notice the rain effect as well. I kept it on the entire game. Very neat Random fun fact. The N64 version has 20 less secrets than the Saturn version. Very odd. Secrets are part of the fun in old school FPS Now im off to start doing thorough plays of Duke Nukem.

Weird how the final boss doesn't count...
Are any levels missing on easy Derek? Would like to actually run through Quake all the way 1 day but I always get wrecked at old school FPS (even though its the bulk of my game play since OG xbox). Also don't have the time to really practice to get good haha.

Its perfect for a casual play through. Especially in the 4th episode they took out all the brutal enemies just about. You likely have the NA version I assume, so I recommend pausing the game and using the Rain cheat, its kinda fun, adds to the levels Highlight “Stereo” in the pause menu then enter RZLXYLRYLR

Quake was in the bundle of 30 disc only games I got when I started haha. And perfect! Maybe once I play through easy I will try the higher difficulties. I have played a decent amount of Quake, but usually just have a blast in the first 1-2 levels before I forget to backup my save and it gets erased when I change batteries The rain cheat looks pretty cool so I will definitely add it. Now if I ever stop playing lost planet and get some free time maybe I can finish it

Really interesting read this thread I had always thought you could 100% Quake. Duken Nukem is the same with the secrets in the PAL version you can't get 100%. I know a few missions where the secret doesn't trigger that you have it.
