At 50 pounds per cable, you are better off getting an OSSC if you have more than one different console.
Also the guy in that youtube video barely fits even in the wide screen frame.

No offense but what’s his weight got anything to do with anything? I’m a skinny dude myself but just doesn’t seem relevant to what knowledge he has or doesn’t, unless you have other reasons for disliking retrorgb It is a lot of money, but it’s a plug and play that seems top notch on a technical level and I think it handles it better visually overall, no? And rad2x May handle mixed resolutions with more ease than something like ossc but I could be wrong

it's an interesting concept, but my sense is a lot of folks on here are more into playing saturn games with the best CRT experience possible rather than hdmi?
Personally I'm more into the YPbPr Component Cable.
Also agree that a person's weight is irrelevant to the discussion - didn't watch the video, but don't need to in order to know that!

Lets just stay on topic about the cables for this one. No need to start up an argument about something else.

Great solution for anyone who owns > 1 Nintendo consoles at the very least.
The really exciting thing about youtube (and is still exciting) is that it's a level playing field. Anyone can make content. And what you look like doesn't matter. Just like when the web first appeared in the 90s, it is akin to the invention of the printing press. I hope it remains that way.

Yeah I'm sure Rob/RetroRGB will be absolutely heartbroken that he's not the type of guy you're into.
Rad2x is basically a stripped back RetroTINK 2x so no it isn't able to do anything magic like that.
They're good cables, if the only retro console you play is your Saturn then this is the best, easiest way to hook things up to a HDTV.

For 480i/240p transitions buy a CRT lol, no cable or scaler can handle them properly. I've no idea how the Level Hike junk thing works but unless it's using a frame buffer with an unlocked frame rate (so lag and juddering) it will still blank the screen during transitions.

Well - yeah - anything but a CRT is ultimately a compromise. It's why I still use them. But RGB SCART is required for the best image; though s-video isn't far behind in my experience.
Chances are a CRT will be cheaper too. It's all about having the room for one.

Well having owned a CRT for a few months now I can say it's a compromise in other ways...
Old tech that may fail Hard (read impossible for bigger sets) to get serviced Geometry issues convergence issues Corner convergence issues Bigger the screen, more geometry issues you get, and size and weight gets absurd... Of course no support (or very limited support) for more modern consoles/PCs
Even so, can't deny they still have advantages. I don't regret getting one.

I'd still take the downside of CRTs over anything on a modern TV. The games were designed to be played on them after all.
Lag is probably the only real issue with modern sets that I would find hard to deal with.
I do like pushing an older console through old projectors we have in work. Even with a composite signal it adds a certain something having such an image size that is well beyond what was thought of when the games were made.

I'm really jonesing for one of these now... if only they were still up for preorder those are closed for now on Retro Gaming Cables UK
line doubling 240p to 480p instead of treating it like 480i on my LevelHike does bother me... and this seems like a retrotink2x just catered to Saturn and RGB output converted on the adapter
--
Framemeister is way beyond what I'm willing to pay, retrotink2x seems nice except shoddy build quality and only s-video/composite/component. Could use it for a cleaner n64 composite, ps2 component, and s-video Saturn but that seems like a step backwards using s-video
OSSC seems nice but not sure if SCART plays nice with Saturn, though if it did I'd do that, VGA from dreamcast, and component for PS2... BUT I'd still have to hook up ps2 direct to my tv for those minority of games that can output 480p since OSSC only handles 240p/480i
DILEMMAS!
But I think my Pound cable v1 is fine for DC for now, official ps3 component cables direct to tv is fine now for ps2, and once I upgrade this LevelHike it will be fine too
LevelHike is the weakest link, but I think it handles 480i fine and its been a nice solution to have vs. the RF that came with my second hand Saturn. My tv also has no s-video, and composite is crap

If you just wanna have a better picture on your TV, then buy that cable. If you want to do any kind of video capture or livestream. Get an OSSC instead.
