Hi all,
Having finally got myself a ST-V and a multi-cart I was wondering what games are significantly different or better on the ST-V compared to Saturn and which games are exclusive to it? Recommend away!

Many games use chiptune music as opposed to prerecorded streaming or CD Audio (VF Kids, Puyo Puyo Sun, VF Remix, and Baku Baku for sure) Cotton Boomerang has differently cropped pictures in the ending, and one cutscene is uncensored (it's only like 2 pixels worth of a nipple). Groove on Fight supposedly has even better animation than on the Saturn port. Batman Forever uses a custom sound board so it probably has better sound... of course you can't play that with a multicart due to that. Soukyugurentai has an English region version that isn't bugged like in the Saturn release (where it was included as an oversight).
Can't name anything else from the top of my head. The chiptune thing should be true to nearly all the STV games, except for the ones that also use chiptunes on the Saturn (Columns 97, Cotton 2, Cotton Boomerang, Radiant Silvergun, Soukyugurentai). I think it's generally true that the Saturn versions always contain more stuff, but I didn't try enough STV games to say it as a hard rule.

Ah well, I thought Cotton 2 maybe had translated cut-scenes, but looks like they just cut them from the US release, I think the ending is translated though judging by what I've seen online.

I think the Cotton 2 ending was translated by someone at some point, but I don't think it was in the game, just something from gamefaqs or so. It's pretty simple though: darkness has befallen the kingdom, monsters have now came out of their lairs and terrorize the land and the citizens. Cotton and Appli go and search for the magical Willow to restore the light to the kingdom. In the ending, they are successful, get the royal banquet and so and so, but when the royals ask where the Willow is, turns out that Cotton was hungry and ate it. So the kingdom is therefore left engulfed in darkness, whoops.
Cotton being completely dumb and wanting to eat the Willows (the Willow being some super powerful magical macguffin) is a recurring plot for all the games by the way.
I think you had it confused with Sokyugurentai, which is the one that had an English portion in the game that was (partially and in a very buggy way) removed in the Saturn release.

Yeah I guess it wouldn't win any awards or anything but would be nice to know what they're blabbering about between the stages.
My STV multi system sadly died just a couple of days after I got it, so I'm hoping it can be repaired.

Wished I never got rid. I found the music in Die Hard Arcade on ST-V to be way inferior but the lack of loading made it play a far better game. That's the only game I found better on ST-V and the lack of loading made a huge difference
Its been ages but I can't remember hearing any difference with Batman Forever music on the Saturn version (it too has nice chip music) seem to remember more slowdown though and a lots of animation missing compared to the ST-V game, more so on the backgrounds. The game gets a lot of hate but I found it to be fun.
I was never able to source Final Arch off my import shop. I remember a few in the shop saying where they had it on ST-V that it had amazing 3D polygon graphics and better than the Saturn WSB games. I'm not sure though I never saw it.

pretty sure the batman forever music is the same. I heard soukyuugurentai had some differences but I never heard what they were. I know there's added content on the saturn version of radiant silvergun (collectible animals).
I thiiiink one of the tanto-r games isn't on the saturn if you care about that.

I don't remember any differences at all with Souky tbh and not for the music. I do remember mind AM#2 in a interview saying the sound board for ST-V was slightly difference and boosted up for performance for sound, but it was vague (maybe they meant sound memory) At a guess I would imagine the sound for Steep Slope Sliders on the ST-V not to be as good as the awesome CD-DA Saturn music tracks either.

The arcade version of Steep Slope Sliders has a huge number of changes to it in many areas compared to the Saturn release, you can almost call them two different games. Well worth playing to see all the changes, never saw the arcade release either in arcades so doubt it sold well.
