I'm having trouble with my JPN saturn. It powers on fine. I've replaced the cmos battery and am using JPN region games. The saturn recognises the disk and shows tracks but will not load the games.
So I opened her up to adjust the pots. With the base of the saturn flat and just the top shell held in a vertical position I turned the system on. And the game loaded without issue! I put the system back together, game won't load. I flipped the whole system vertical, game loads!
So the laser is not an issue, because whilst only the top shell is vertical, the drive and laser are still flat on the bottom half of the system.
I've checked wires, all appear fine. I just don't know what to do with this as it makes no sense whatsoever!

Could be an issue with the CD tray / spindle falling down a little and needs pulling up a touch.

Yeah, either the tray is off position, or the peg of the motor is bent.
