Guy from work was in Japan and he picked this one for me. This has been on my want list for some time. Like the racing/shmup hybrid idea.

Thanks. Had heard of that cheat - lets you turn the racing gameplay off. It's nice to know that is there. I actually quite like the racing part of the game as it forces you to balance risk and reward. To go faster you have to hold A down which doesn't fire. Only bullets kill you so you can bump into enemies so it is a quite different style of game. It's a bit manic with everything going on but it will be good to play it as a straight shooter too.

My japanese copy of Alien Triology arrived yesterday. I played it already and I really like it so far. The atmosphere is great with a very nice Soundtrack.
The controls are good too for such old game. Only the aiming is a bit tricky for me at the Moment. I am quite new to this early 3d shooter stuff, so I will need some time to adjust.

One of the first games I got for my Saturn back in 97. Like you said the games atmosphere and soundtrack are amazing. They did a good job creating the feel of the movies and overall a decent job of using all 3 film assets over the course of the game. I think its even a bit underrated in the retro FPS group probably somewhat due to it really being a console based FPS instead of a PC first one. But it has most of the stuff I love about the older games in the genre. Plenty of levels, plenty of firepower and lots of secrets areas to discover. Also people generally seem to like the Saturn version better than the PS1 due the frame rate being a bit faster/more consistent despite being a bit darker (which honestly adds a bit more atmosphere accidentally)

You might have got hit by customs because of the total value of all 3 games. It can depend what the seller writes on the postage label...

Apparently Spain is cracking down on imports because of the rising popularity of stuff like Aliexpress. My guy says that next time he will mark down as junk and hopefully it'll bypass them.
As for the games:
Astal: US and JP exclusive. Apparently the JP version is a lot fairer in terms of difficulty, but I got the JP version because the US cases would ruin the look of my PAL and JP collection!
Jung Rhythm: It's a rhythm game, like Space Channel 5 or Parappa the Rapper. Apart from it stars a weird japanese girl who can't sing.
Doraemon: It's a platformer. There's very little online about this aside from some footage of the first level. The Saturn Encyclopedia listed the average review score as 7/10 so I figured it was worth a punt for the cheap price.
Can't tell you how good they are yet. I'll get around to them eventually!

Astal - of course. Should have known about that one. Will be interested to hear about the other two.

Funny Thing that you Mention it. I am somehow in the same boat. I can remember that I tried out the ps1 demo back then in the 90s and I did not like it all. I have no good memories about the graphics and the controls. Playing FPS on the Ps1 was always a mess anyway. The only suitable fps for the first Sony console was Medal of Honor, but even Medal of Honor was a mess concering the controls.
But back to Alien Triology. I like it much better than the ps1 Version. The controls are smooth for such a old game, and the atmosphere is getting better and better with each Level. The game is really good in emulating the atmosphere of the Franchise.
I am really into FPS now btw. Yesterday I snatched a copies of Duke Nukem 3d, Exhumed and Quake. Should arrive in the next couple of weeks.

Finally added Courier Crisis to the collection at a convention this past week (Also got to meet the incredible Jeff Goldblum lol) This is a game I always wanted to try back in the day. I know its generally seen has pretty doo doo but I usually find myself liking things about bad games once I play them. I think the nostalgia of reading the reviews for it back in 1997 in magazines is kicking in a bit in my anticipation to try it.
