I ahve not played dark savior yet, got on ebay already along with Holy ark but according to footage Dark Savior really looks like more a platform game but the graphics are great. I really like the art style.
I just hope that tere are good translation guides out there for both games. So I can enjoy the Story. I am studying Japanese but it it will take me years until I am good enough to play a game and understand the full story.

Yes, the storyline to Holy Ark is very, very good. That puzzle at the end of the 2nd shrine had me tearing my hair out as a teenager.

Lunar 1 and 2 are both great on the Saturn. I would give those a try if I were you.

Yeah, Dark Savior is absolutely a platformer. It's a really good platformer too. The combat was unfinished. It's there... sometimes, but it doesn't really work. And there's a story of some sort.
But the artstyle is gorgeous and the music is the bomb.

If you're limited to english language games you're in trouble, but panzer dragoon saga is obviously high up there, and shining force III, difficult though it may be, and Dragonforce is pretty interesting too. On the Japanese side personally I really like Grandia, Cyber Doll, Dragon Master Silk, Quovadis 2, and Marika. For Action RPGs there's Magic Knight Rayearth, Legend of Oasis, and Linkle Liver Story. Those are my recommendations anyway! Thanks will check them out
