Is there any limit proposed in the manual of the Saturn regarding gameplay session lenght ? My Saturn developed a dead drive after some 36 hours of use.... the motor control chip fried... CD will not spin, laser would move around, motor is not dead... my other Saturn was so from the beginning... I just looked at mine and here is what it says: Turn off the Sega Saturn when not in use.If the Sega Saturn is left on for extended periods of time, heat buildup causes risk of fire and deterioration of components.

It is a myth that leaving equipment running 24/7 makes it last longer.
While equipment generally blows during the power-on process, that is simply one of these things (well, there is an electronic reason behind it but I'd rather not start writing out equations).
The fact that's when it happens is not so much to do with powering on and off, but usage and other factors leading up to it. It will happen, there's no avoiding it, just take every day as it comes, and don't worry about shit so much.
