I use the one on the 2nd picture shown here: www.sega-board.fr/viewtopic.php?t=2382It works for any saturn: PAL/US/JPN in RGB (yes) but I think you need a TV that didn't commute to 16:9 according to the voltage on the correct pin as JPN saturn delivers less voltage to this particular pin.

There's actually a small voltage difference between PAL and NTSC consoles according to adaptorman, I'd still recommend trying his cables if you have problems.

There's actually a small voltage difference between PAL and NTSC consoles according to adaptorman, I'd still recommend trying his cables if you have problems. The voltage difference depends on which pin you are using. There is a +5v DC pin and the composite sync pin (+12v / +9v / +3v, there are conflicting reports about it). Play-asia cables use the sync pin for the voltage, which is why they sometime don't switch to RGB properly or just mess up the screen bigtime. Cables advertised as "working in all regions" SHOULD use the +5v pin, which SHOULD have the same voltage on all saturns. Someone with a ton of saturns shoud test this with a voltmeter so we can get conclusive data. (madroms, I'm looking at you )

What must be tested ? The pins on the SCART cable or the pins from the rear of the saturn ?

What must be tested ? The pins on the SCART cable or the pins from the rear of the saturn ? I've seen reports of pin 1 being sync only, +9v DC (PAL), +12v DC (PAL), +3.2-3.5v DC AND video sync (JPN), etc. Most RGB cables use pin 1 as the RGB voltage select, and since some Saturns don't supply the expected/stable voltage, the picture gets all fubared (cable displays composite only, or even worse, jumps around between composite and RGB).

Magnets you mean like a ferrite core round the cable? Yes, that's what I meant. Not sure how much of an effect they really have but the official JP PS1 RGB cable has huge ones on both ends, and it's by far the cleanest picture compared to my other consoles. The NeoGeo is the worst, and it doesn't have them at all. Saturn cable is great, but a step or two below the PS1.

The play-asia cable has them on the Saturn end, and the quality is "I'd rather use composite".
