I recently bought this game off Aydan and I have to say I am throughly impressed.
This game has a lot going for it. The awesome graphics (I love them anyway!), The good story,
And the spectacular battle system, This game actually makes you think about what you are doing unlike the Final Fantasy games in which you mainly just click 'attack' then recover your characters when necessary. I also liked how every character was fairly well balanced due to the fact that in most RPG's the mage character is virtually useless when it comes to attacking directly and in this game 'Melody' whilst the weakest character (In terms of direct attacks) can still be very useful when directly attacking.
I have played this game for a good while now and would recommend it to ANY saturn owner, It is just so fun!
I figured this game deserved it's own thread so that I can see how many people on this forum love this game. ;D

I reviews dark savior :3
I feckin love the game. I remember getting it on my birthday back in like 1996/or maybe it was 97. I had the sega flash 3 disk which had a video preview and i wet myself with excitement. especially since it was from the makers of landstalker.
it's a great game imo. i dont look at it against other games, i look at it for what it is alone. the music is also epic! so much so i have the entire ost on my ipod xD
as for length there's plenty (trololol). at first when i played wit when i was young i didnt understand the parallel system but tried to beat my speed when the timer went red and got there in yellow, thus moving onto the 2nd parallel after beating the first and i was like holy sh**!!!
ramble ramble...
mystaria is awesome too. I only started playing this game this year and love it. it's like shining force 3 but the graphics are suckier. but that doesn't take away from the fun for me one bit! I also found there to be little to no grinding needed at times which is a HUGE plus. I HATE grinding for ages. I enjoy doing it a bit but god dammit does it get boring.

Also fantastic review Martiniii! I totally agree Thanks! Great to hear you're loving the game. One thing to be aware of with Dark Savior is that it's actually not an RPG. It has a couple RPG elements thrown in but they have no actual impact on the gameplay. The game is a combination of a 3D platform jumper, puzzle Adventure, and one-on-one Fighting game. It's also worth warning you that all three of the game's composite genres are in very crude form. For example, in the one-on-one Fighting, each character has only one regular attack and one special attack. However, while the platform jumping is all run-and-jump, Silver Castle is one of the most jaw-dropping platform levels ever made. Seriously, if you're a fan of platform jumpers, it's worth getting Dark Savior for Silver Castle alone. The story is definitely the highlight of Dark Savior, though. It's one of those rare video games which not only holds up in literary terms, but is actually exceptional. It centers around a very thought-provoking concept and is very well-executed. Aside from perhaps the wacky Parallel 4, the story is beyond reproach. Mystaria is quite excellent. I like to refer to it as "the Hack 'n' Slash of Tactical RPGs". Later in the game your guys learn moves which can OHKO a half dozen enemies at once, and in general the strategy is cruder than in a typical Tactical RPG - certainly much cruder than Shining Force III. On the other hand, though, a lot of the battles do not use "kill all enemies" as their objective, which is quite refreshing. There certainly is some unique thinking required for many of the battles. And the game can be wonderfully chaotic. Finally, I don't know about the PAL versions, but the USA versions of Mystaria and Dark Savior are very reasonably priced, so assuming that holds true on the other side of the Atlantic, they're unquestionably worth trying out for the asking price.

As for SthA I am at the part where you fight Rillix and it's the first part of the game that I have really struggled at. Looks like the training starts now

Guys, i need a word of advice about Shining The Holy Ark.
So i started playing it and everything was fine (Desire Mine, Forest of Confusion, Forest Cave) until i came to the Enrich Dungeon for the first time... Difficulty of the game dramatically changed! I can't make it through this dungeon. My characters (Arthur, Rodi and Melody) are on 7 lvl. I escaped through the town well back to the Enrich Town.
What should i do ? My first notice when i encountered monsters in Enrich Dungeon and almost died was "It must be a game bug or something! Or maybe i should go somewhere else first".

Haven't played the game in awhile but I believe you need to find Goat, Snake and Eagle crests first, I could be wrong though. It might be worth saving up all your magic points, selling every thing you don't need, upgrading weapons and topping up on all potions before proceeding. At that stage in the game, you should have a few reserves so might be worth swapping some members. Look out for 'Doyle' around Enrich town. He'll only join your team if you find him. You might find this guide helpful. Good luck www.gamefaqs.com/saturn/198626-shining-the-holy-ark/faqs

At my point of the game, Doyle is still unavaible character, because Rilix should be defeated first. Yes i know i should find these crests, but the problem is that monsters are too hard. Maybe i should exp a little or something...

Enrich Dungeon is usually a jump in difficulty on a first playthrough, mainly because most people haven't completely gotten used to finding and using the pixies yet, so they're underleveled. No worries, though, as grinding for levels is very easy in Shining the Holy Ark. There aren't even game overs; when your party is wiped out you just return to church and lose half your gold, with all levels and items gained still intact. Use your pixies every time the monsters pop up, and your levels will get up to speed even faster. About level 10 unpromoted should do it.

I've returned to the previous dungeon (Forest Cave) and lvled up a little and now i am strong enough to beat Enrich Dungeon I've learned some battle spells that damages a group of enemies, so now i am finally able to beat those Striker Pods (they have ability to duplicate themselves so it's hard to beat them by attacking only one at a time). But one more question Martiniii, how exactly should i use these pixies ?
When i randomly push A or C button on the gamepad, before enemy approaches, some pixies appear and sometimes they attack, but sometimes not...

You have to use the right pixies for the right Enemies. There are pixies for enemies that come up from the ground, pixies for enemies that drop from the sky, pixies for enemies that appear from the right and pixies for enemies that appear from the left. If they're appearing but not attacking it means you've promoted the wrong pixie for the wrong enemy. i.e A ground pixie won't attack an enemy that drops from the sky.

OK, i understand, thanks, but which button is assigned to which kind of pixie ?Is there a tutorial somewhere ? I cant find it on gamefaq being explained clearly enough for me... Here is what i found: GAMEFAQIt explains what type of pixie/fairy/leprechaun/incubus/sucubus i have to use in specific situations, but it says that i need to press A or C. I dont understand it, because it mentions 2 buttons, but there are 5 types of pixies...
