dforce3000.de/?p=news2nd story from the top (at the moment) The claim "regional lockout bypass works just fine on real hardware. Install this Bios in your Saturn and play any authentic game in any video mode you like, no need for clunky switches or cartridges anymore." You'd still need a 50/60 switch for my friends in PAL land but this is interesting. I don't have an eprom burner nor do I have a steady enough hand to attempt this

Neat I guess but switchless mod is better: easier to install, is well established as working and has 50/60Hz select.

It should be theoretically possible to make a BIOS that lets you boot backups from any region, kind of like a built-in System Disc, and then be able to switch between games like normal until you turn off the power. But you will always need to first boot with an original game to unlock the disc drive, I don't think there's a way around that.

Could open the doors to all sorts of interesting mods, Saturn HD loader via optical drive emulation perhaps? Still a little far off but never say never.

Can't say I'd bother with it... AR+ works for me...

Unfortunately I'd still want the stupid AR+ for the 1/4MB modes. If only it supported direct save like the official memory cart!

Just can't believe they'd use a pic like that for an example. I'd wait for someone to post a pic of their installation rather than the pic they used.

Yea. I'm pretty confused by it too.
Like did they piggyback ore remove the old chip or what?

Looks like they cut the leads going to the old bios chip on the mainboard and piggybacked the new chip via wires to the severed leads. Probably why it looks so bad.

It's kinda useless now but opens up all kinds of interesting possibilities for the future, assuming anyone picks up the torch and actually makes some custom BIOS that do more than, well, virtually nothing.
