Ooh, I see your point. The reason for that is because your machine has an aging (or miscalibrated) laser that can't distinguish between non-written parts and zeroed-out parts on a CDR... it thinks it sees something resembling the security ring(s), and it keeps trying to re-read them. Until the lack of security ring is confirmed, the machine can't decide between Saturn disc, or non-saturn disc. That's why step 1 takes so long on your machine. If you pad the game image, you have the security ring area written with zeros, which make it easier (I guess) to confirm the nonexistence of the ring. So games boot faster. But, normally you don't wait for the machine to confirm that you are not running a real game when using the swap trick, in fact you do the opposite - swap discs before the machine realizes that you are using a CDR. So this padding trick is only useful for the Magic Card. hi peeps ive hit a snag i just did panzer dragoon saga and i have a japanese saturn and when i put panzer dragoon in and played it with my action replay card it come up with a messege in panzer lettering and just says remove card and when i reboot it without it it says something about it not being the right saturn cd i cant read japanese so dont know exactly and yes i am aware that saga will be a PAL or us copy if they had it ? anyone else had this problem can i just region patch it ? the files are bin/cue . help its the main reson i got the mod chip. Panzer Dragoon Saga refuses to run with carts as an anti-cheat/piracy measure. There is some AR code to bypass this, but I don't have it, and it's far, far easier to just regionmod the games you are burning to run on your Saturn. Saturn region patcher: madroms.satakore.com/#SRP

Just region patch it. The modchip will not bypass the region protection, only allow you to boot burned discs. Even if you have a japanese Saturn you can change the language to english.

Ooh, I see your point. The reason for that is because your machine has an aging (or miscalibrated) laser that can't distinguish between non-written parts and zeroed-out parts on a CDR Four different machines from two different regions behave the same way, so I don't think it's got something to do with bad lasers. But, normally you don't wait for the machine to confirm that you are not running a real game when using the swap trick, in fact you do the opposite - swap discs before the machine realizes that you are using a CDR. So this padding trick is only useful for the Magic Card. It depends on how you like to perform the swap trick. The "normal" way is to boot with the backup, swap to an original and then back to the backup again while the discs are still spinning. If you boot with the backup and let it be recognized as a music CD first you only have to swap discs while they are spinning once, so it's less stressful for both you and the machine.

If you are converting the mp3s to wavs you will need to open the cue file up in a text editor and look where the references are made to the mp3s. Change the filenames/extensions in here to match the wav files you have created.
