You need to put a modchip in your Saturn to play backups. I'd contact Rob Webb at www.consolegoods.co.uk/ for it. He can no longer list them (thanks paypal) but he still sells them.

Yea over time the swap trick can cause damage unless you're using a MagicCart which stops the laser assembley while you swap discs. Go with a mod chip, then use Nero or similar to just do a direct copy of the disc.
If you want your copies to last buy archival CDRs, they're a bit more pricey but will last longer that youll be alive.

word of warning, you may break your saturn by attempting to install a chip. I did a few weeks back! Mr Webb offers no support at all either with the chips, im not shitting on him here as a lot of people have had good experiences with the chips but it couldn't have gone any worse for me

I had thought about a modchip for my near future Saturn, but I had feared that it was more complicated than that.

It depends on the modchip you buy but none are too difficult. I had the same Saturn board's used in the how to pics so mine were easy. Seeing you're from Ohio when I last checked modchip prices, Rob's chips (after overseas shipping) were the cheapest...not including random forum deals (not here sadly) I've noticed.

The chipping just didnt work for me and fucked my machine. The process for modding mine involved more than just connecting 2 cables and a wire btw

Actually it depends on the chip, not the motherboard. But you don't need to connect anything but the ribbon and a +5v line to the chip, since all the necessary signals are already in the ribbon.

I said you don't have to connect anything else to the Saturn, which is correct. Never said that you don't have to solder jumpers on the modchip.

Your also the only person in 5 years of this forum, and indeed in my entire Saturn experience to claim a modchip has killed a Saturn. Unless you've just simply damaged the ribbon cables I can't even fathom how it's possible.

Or maybe even just put the ribbon in backwards.
