I've tried to google and go through the forums before asking here, but haven't been able to find an answer so far:
I've been playing with the SSF emulator today, but for some reason I can't get the current version ( 0.12 as far as i can find ) to work. It keeps giving me runtime errors as soon as i start the exe file. When I load the 0.11 version it seems to run fine. ( managed to get a bios to load anyway ). For now there don't appear to be that many changes between the two versions, but if anyone knows a fix it would be welcome.
So far I have tried: installing Direct X 9.0. Repairing my C++ 64bit install , running in XP compatibility modus. Nothing seems to help.
No need to spend a lot of time on this issue, I won't be doing that myself either. Just thought maybe someone here might have had the same issues.

Tried adding it to DEP exceptions?

Don't think that will help DEP is only used for windows essential programs on my pc, so it shouldn't affect SSF, but I'll give it a try later. Thx for your response

by default in Vista/Windows 7, unless you specifically exclude programs, DEP is on for everything so yeah, give it a shot.

That looks like a graphics card incompatibility, have you updated drivers and DirectX runtimes? I'll give it a go on my rig when I get a chance.

Yea everything is up to date, did a DX re-install too, 0.11 works fine so I'll stick with that.

As far as i've read there aren't that many changes made in the 0.12 version. I'd really like to get the 012 working on my own pc. I've manage to get 0.12 working on my business pc. The 0.11 version has some weird little problems: Mostly: the ssf emulator respond to keystrokes even when not selected. So for example you're running the emulator as a mediaplayer for your audio cd ( don't ask me why one wants to do that, I just DID use is as a MP yesterday ~~ ) and you go to www.f ( acebook.com ) it registers the "f" key as pauze... This problem does not occur in the 0.12 version. I don't care that much. I normally use Winamp for MP and when your playing games you're not using any other programs ( usually ) , but regardless I just want 0.12 running at home

That's actually a pretty useful feature. One of the later versions made it possible to turn it off though (it's a INI file only setting I think) because it can get annoying if you are not using a gamepad.

buckoa51: does not appear to be DEP. I deleted an earlier post stating it was. I managed to get into the 0.12 version and select a bios and country code. After closing and restarting the emulator crashed on me again with the same runtime error. THX for the suggestion though. Still weird i got to run it this one time. No clue as to why...

I was getting these issues, the trick I find is to NOT minimize the emulator. Sounds insane right? Well, 12 works perfect for me, if i minimize it and try to bring it back up i get those random errors too. and everytime i try to load SSF it wont load but get those errors. the way to fix is to delete the SSF and SETTINGS notepad files then reload the exe, problem solved. Until you minimize again... so to put it simple, just dont minimise SSF xD

0.12 requires a pixel shader 3 compatible card and up-to-date DirectX, so that may be whats causing errors for a lot of people.

Anytime, it's working perfect for me other than that tiny issue but it's such a simple work around, don't minimize and you're good to go. Been playing Christmas NiGHTS perfectly emulated in all it's beautiful glory on my massive HD screen

I've been having the same problem however, when I open SSF it opens already minimized. So when I click it on the windows bar the message comes up and I cannot play. I can hear the emulator sounds working perfectly though. Any ideas?
