I keep seeing them on Ebay and I'm always wondering how good they are. Anyone here got one? Are they any good?

I've got one and barely use it to be honest. Don't really like playing Rally with it, and find the analogue stick better for Touring Car. Never tried it with Manx TT or the Daytona's though.

I find I get much better sega rally times with the wheel, you need it on a desk with a good bit of space to use it properly though.

you need it on a desk with a good bit of space to use it properly though. That always was the problem with wheels - they need to be fixed solid to something. My step-son has a (spit) PS2 wheel with leg anchor type things that clip on to you. It's actually quite effective, bit feels weird, tbh.

I have 2, I think they are great. I mean it looks weird sat playing a racing game & trying too steer with a keypad (lots of Interactive role playing going on) ;D. So much better turning the wheel. So I would say yep get one.

You can't beat Sega Rally with an arcade wheel. Once you get into using one you won't like going back to a pad. The reason why people are desperate to sell them is cos they're so HUGE!
I'd love to have two and play S Rally with another.

I always find steering wheels on any console far too sensitive.

Was a well made piece of kit, but felt wrong without having an peddles for it.
Worth getting if you're an obsessive collector though.

I only use the steering wheel with Sega Rally. I find it too difficult to use with other racers. It's like the wheel was designed for SR! It's worth getting for SR alone. Although it is pretty cool racing the sheep with it on Manx TT! ;D
The other difficulty with the wheel is you don't really have anywhere decent to place it. I find the best way is to get a chair, sit down then place the wheel inbetween ur thighs, so that your legs are on top of its base. If that makes sense. Should fit nicely and enable you to race a lot better.

I'm going to snap up the next one I see at the carboot. You can usually buy one from Ebay for 99p (!) but the postage is usually in the region of £10.

Most certainly worth it. I bought mine for £50 when it first came out and it made a huge difference to Daytona USA. Then when Sega Rally came out I used it on that, and you do get much better times with the wheel than you do with the pad because it's much easier to follow the racing line precisely.
