Hi...
I've a Sega Saturn! =D
*applause*
^_^
Fantastic - I know!
=P But there's a slight problem.
Here's the skinny....
Bought tonnes of games back in the day. =)
All of them still play fine.
Er...except Riven disc 1, which is annoying, even though it's kept in its box, and has no visible scratches. *scratches head*
Anyway....
Last year, I got back into buying Saturn games, and bought Torico.
=P It wouldn't load.
I decided to cheer myself up by buying some other cheap games. I got Discworld II, Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, and Myst...all cheap in town, second hand.
Discworld II wouldn't load.
Quake wouldn't load.
Duke Nukem 3D wouldn't load,
Myst wouldn't load.
Wtf!?
Torico still wouldn't load.
Put in NiGHTS....loads fine, put in Sonic R...loads fine...put in Panzer Dragoon Saga...loads fine. Put in Riven...yeah...okay,well, doesn't load.
But having just bought moreorless five games in a row, and none of them loading - seemed suspect.
Took Torico in to Virtual Games for disc scratch repair.
Sent Discworld II off to my mate at Insane Games, who apparently disc repaired it, but hasn't posted it back yet(!).
Torico came back...still didn't load.
Crap.
Forgot about it all.
Then bought Mystaria off ebay....it loaded fine.
Then tried Torico again...it loaded fine! Amazing!
So tried Duke Nukem 3D....loaded fine!
Then tried Quake - it loaded fine!
Then tried Myst - it loaded fine.....but...mid play it crashed, with a bunch of white text appearing on sceen, including a part that read: CPU ADDRESS ERROR!
Then I put Torico back in....it wouldn't load....
I put Duk and Quake back in...they loaded...
I put Myst in...it was playing up.
Just recently, I bought Atlantis off ebay....won't load.
Put NiGHTS in...loads fine.
But Torico and Atlantis....still problems loading.
Question:
Is it the discs at fault?
Or the sheer amount of recent purchases I've experienced these problems with, make it too much of a coincidence that they're all faulty, and it's likely my mk2 Saturn is playing up at reading discs?
But then the majority of the games I bought back in the late 90s, still play fine (appart from Riven).
Any clues?
