Welcome to the forums! Gona have to pick you brains for a bit so here goes. Do you have a Dreamcast in the collection for Sega Rally 2? Ever played Sega Rally aka Sega Rally Revo and/or Sega Rally Online Arcade on either XBOX360 or PSN? Give the choice Ryu or Ken? Last of all, What part of the planet are you from? End of initiation.

IF HE'S A 3RD STRIKE PLAYER... like his handle suggests ( ) he'll probably go with Ken - from a competitive standpoint! Also, he's probably from the UK, as I don't think I've ever heard of any country abbreviating their names quite like we do over here, eh Darren? ;D Welcome to the forums btw! I enjoy Chun Li (3s only mind), Ibuki & Ryu myself

dazza3s I'm pretty much a Ryu in everything. First and Second choice that is tho Ken comes out to play sometimes lol. Played a lot of Sega Rally on XBOX360 online kinda hardcore in the golden days so was a bit of a fan. Now I know your from the UK we can get down to business, you may already know what I'm about to say but will say it any way just in case. The slowdown in PAL Sega Rally 2 used to hack me off but anyway... The PAL version of Sega Rally 2 for Dreamcast can be locked to run at 30fps. On the Press Start Button title screen press: Up,A,Down,Down,Left,Right,B,B,UP. Your hear a sound if done correct. This will lock the game to run @ 30fps with no slowdown just like the American version was, as in it was shipped locked at 30fps later on. However if your using a scart or composite video cable you will only get 25fps as the DC will be running in 50Hz. To get the full 30fps your need a VGA lead which will make the game run at 60hz. Takes a little to get used too but if playing Saturn Sega Rally side by side then doesn't make much difference. At least you can play arcade mode with no slow down or frame skipping and that's all that matters. If you already knew that then cool. Better to say than to be left in the dark for ever more not knowing. And just in case you have never seen them here are 4 old pictures I took off the web like 13++ years ago of a WIP Sega Rally 2 DC. Three of the pictures at least are of course not found in Sega Rally 2 Dreamcast I believe. Interesting any way... Don't know anything about them other than I took them off an early version of the Computer & Video Games web site. It was just the normal chit chat text as News coming soon ect along with these images so nothing unusual at the time but the pictures proved to be later on! Makes me wonder if Sega Rally 1995's Mountain stage was remade but never released in the final version. Strange...

I don't typically like to resurrect old threads, but I'm able to contribute quite a lot to this particular subject, so hopefully you won't mind if I make an exception...
Anyway, those screenshots aren't from the Dreamcast or PC conversions of Sega Rally 2, but instead show the initial arcade location test build (you can tell because of the higher polygon count on the car models, plus the vastly superior reflection effect in windows along with some advanced shading techniques that only the Model 3 board supported). That specific course was dropped at some point after the initial location test, meaning it received plenty of coverage from magazines and websites back in the day. I once read many of the additional courses from the PC and Dreamcast editions of Sega Rally 2 were recycled ideas that didn't make the cut in the arcade original, though I've no idea why this mountain-themed stage failed to also return. At the very least, it wouldn't surprise me if some leftover data remained in the final ROM, since there have been quite a few discoveries pointing to what the developers planned. For example, several voice clips exist that didn't serve a purpose until the Dreamcast/PC conversion, such as directions only used in Desert SS2, Snowy SS1 and the "sunny" variation of Snowy SS2. As with the debug menu for Sonic The Fighters taking years to become fully documented, I suspect it will be a long time before anyone puts in the necessary effort to see whether anything further is lurking in the SR2 arcade files.
If anyone is interested, I could upload a large number of magazine scans featuring this lost circuit. I've always hoped someone could piece together its layout and recreate this in a different game, or perhaps even the home versions of SR2 by using a model editor, though there just doesn't seem to be the interest or wider demand for either, sadly.
