Beatable - I've had 1'06"xx lap 1s (best - 1'06"65). Save cart corruption puts me off for now - like when you put your hand in a lightbulb socket you don't even want to be in the same room for a while. Still got my times - only lost ghosts/replays which need the floppy disk drive to be backed-up.
I started playing Bug! seriously for the first time. OMG, this character is such a Walmart version of Gex. Maybe it's because I'm preoccupied while playing, but it's also not the easiest game in the world. It's just... it's just so cheesy and cheap looking. It's growing on me though.
That bloody Mountain track hairpin remains my Achille's Heel in Sega Rally. It has ruined many a good run for me.
At least you have the times - that would be enough for me to be honest.
I hard turn into neutral to take the turn. I then accelerate in gear 2, the N-to-1/2 suspension tightly pushing me past the hairpin wall. I recorded a video (3'19"62 - 1'05"89 best lap) to demonstrate if you're curious. It's more technical than Forest's hairpin. I'm chuffed I still have the times. :-)
Didn't think about going into neutral. The times when I did it OK I braked quite heavily while turning hard in 1st or second. But I find it hard to consistently pick when to start braking and then turning.
Will give that a go. If you have a link to a video I'd give that a watch.
