Crossover games have happened - it started with something like Fighters Megamix, and then across companies like Capcom vs SNK, Namco x Capcom... So... Namco vs. Sega? Well, I wouldn't exactly hold my breath, but check this article out ->clicky here<-That said, for a serious fighter, I myself always preferred the VF series over Tekken. To be fair to Tekken, I never gave it a real go except a few tries. The characters/moves set seem much more realistic in VF - which I guess is the main draw for the VF fans. For fighters that takes itself a bit less seriously, I had great fun with games like Rival Schools, Fighting Vipers, and Tech Romancer.

That article rocked!
Side Note : I've heard of Tech Romancer but never played it. It came out on Dreamcast, right? Sequel to Cyber-Bots on the Saturn? How would you rate the game?

Tech Romancer is unrelated to Cyberbots. The plot in Cyberbots was somewhat serious, not to mention the controls are loosely based on the typical 2D Capcom fighting formula. (But damn! I just found out you can unlock Jin and Blodia from Cyberbots as a secret character in this game! I never done this myself!)
Tech Romancer is a 3D fighting game, and is basically a one giant spoof of mech animes in general. All the characters are spoofs of some mech that you'd see in some classic Japanese anime (I haven't made all the links, but the ones that were pretty easy to figure out were Tranzor Z, Gundam, Bubblegum Crisis, etc.), and they each have their own silly plots, as well as pretty cool finishing moves and all that.
It's good fun - I'd certainly recommend it, and more so if you like big-ass robots -- (and anyone who doesn't is weird!) ;D

I heard about another type of fighting game that lets you use your partner as a weapon! The thing is....I don't remember the name and who made it.
Side note: I tried out that Tech Romancer! Super Defense Armour Dixen looks like a gundam (Maybe thats why I like so much now. LOL). Fun game! Giant robot fighters rock!

And I don't know about a fighter that literally "uses" your partner as a weapon, but Rival Schools/Project Justice sounds close. That game is just as wacky as Tech Romancer and quite fun in my books. If you liked Tech Romancer and haven't tried this series, give it a go sometime. Also, if you like giant robot fighters, none can touch Virtual On for the DC for its depth and speed, but you really need the twin-sticks to have a proper go at the game.

To me, the comparisons are obvious. People are not very challenged by Tekk3, unlike in VF2. But VF2 is fairly challenging and is easily the most well balanced and in-depth fighter of it's time. Fighting Vipers, however, is something I haven't played, due to the fact that my allowance is a joke and eBay is IMPOSSIBLE! *cue horror spotlight and horror music*
I solved that by stumbling upon a copy of Fighters Megamix, with a broken case, and played with the Fighting Vipers engine in the game. I could tell how awesome the armor system and lighting effects were, thus leading to the opinion that it is just as fun, even if not as good as, VF2. Last Bronx would easily pwn Sould Blade, not in graphics, but at least in balance and difficulty. Same with features, such as Survival and V.S.
I own VF2, Last Bronx, and Megamix. Those are the best fighters of their era, surely they must be. Namco makes me take a dump.

I remember in my younger days always knocking Tekken for being little more than a poor man's Virtua Fighter played in slow motion, though I've since fallen in love with Fighters Megamix. By lowering the action speed, AM2 brought the worlds of VF2 and Fighting Vipers together much closer than I had once thought possible, even going beyond that with the inclusion of commands (and characters - if you consider Janet Marshall is just a reskin of Aoi Umenokouji) from VF3, which to this day remains criminally unreleased for the Saturn. Although I was more than pleased to finally experience VF3 without blowing my savings in the local arcade once it launched for the Dreamcast, the fact remains that Genki delivered a poor conversion that was compromised by their lack of programming expertise, a forced deadline and expectations that even Yu Suzuki and his own team may have struggled to live up to. Sure, everything plays the same, but the Dreamcast pad was never really made for such technically demanding fighters - just compare Street Fighter Zero 3 on the Saturn to its 128-bit counterpart, which although technically superior (or so you'd think, as Sega's 32-bit console does make great use of its 4Mb RAM upgrade cartridge potential) is ruined by the controller. Actually, returning to the point of Fighters Megamix, it's possible this even surpasses VF3 by removing the undulating terrain of that game. Besides, wasn't the reason AM2 removed this feature from all subsequent sequels due to the difficulty many veterans had adapting to the system (along with Taka Arashi, who was near impossible to knock over)? If anything, Fighters Megamix was more a precursor to VF4 than the third part of AM2's successful - if slightly too hardcore oriented - series, but I for one won't complain about that. After all, if you're still not good enough to challenge VF players there's always the latest Tekken to practice on...
P.S. With the exception of its fantastic visuals (which easily surpass even Ultimate Revenge Attack), you can't really compare D-Xhird to the more popular Battle Arena Toshinden when it comes to fighting games... well, on the Saturn, at least!

Did anyone hear about Arc System Works(dudes behind Guilty Gear) working on a new fighter? It is gonna have a 2-D fighting system but with a 3-D look. Kind-of like Project Justice except without the background scsaling around. I think it was for the arcade and Capcom was gonna release it.
