I really need to try and unlock the emerald zone... has anyone got any cheats for this??
Its never really been favourite game but I just love the graphics and music and I was hoping it could have played like mario kart but nuuuuuuu.....
and i gotta see emerald Zone on the HDTV to see if it really IS transparency to shut up the naysayers!!!
Sonic R should be owned even if you hate the game.. I think its one of those games (along Exhumed/Powerslave, Quake, Duke Nukem) where its basically a tech demo to show what the saturn can really do in the 3D arena..
Too bad it came out late in the Saturns life.. if Travellers Tales had came out with this much earlier on and licensed their 3D engine out to other software companies who knows what the future could have been for Saturn..

Sonic R is excellent. Anyone who doesn't own it should get it now! ;D
I know it only had 5 tracks but, there was so much more to it than that. I played on it for months on end, and I will play on it again tomorrow mornin when the mrs is in bed asleep, haha

At ebay, they seem to go pretty cheap - on average less than US$5, and some as low as $.99 for a complete set, though the BIN sellers are trying to charge around $20. After this and the 3D sonic talk in the other thread, I decided to give this one a try. Pretty impressive 3D stuff - even though there are a few camera angle and/or breakup problems at certain times. I wonder if the Japanese version has that same horrible, horrible, music.

Got it for the Sega Saturn, PC and PlayStation 2 (as part od the Sonic Gems Collection).
Yeah, awesome game, even if it can be completed quickley but it's always a fun game to come back to once in a while.
Love the catchy tunes..

I think the music was different in Europe and was remixed by Richard someone. I will dig out the Saturn mag article.

My copy came today but doesn't seem to work. Not having much luck with eBay at the moment. It clicks as it spins and the Saturn only reads it as a music disc. I am going to take it to be cleaned before I give up on it totally but has anyone come across this problem before? My Saturn plays ever other game fine.

Do you have an original Saturn or the model 2 with the round grey buttons?
I stopped using my model 2 UK Saturn because it was so picky about what discs it would read, my model 1 reads everything fine.

No, I've got a mk1. I am going to take it to my games specialist and get it cleaned, then test it, if not I will be getting my cash back!
