The state of arcades in the US is pretty sad. IF you find one they are pretty much full of crane games and maybe a Ms. Pacman/Galaga combo unit. Sounds like the UK. You only see arcades in seaside resort areas, and they have all the same kinds of games. As a matter of fact, things are getting bad in Japan by the looks of things. Besides the main cities, the arcades are just crane games, Purikura machines (where girls take photos of themselves and edit to have giant eyes n shit), and dance games.

Austin Texas has several good arcades I found: UFO Arcade and Pinballz. Ufo is great for fighters (Street Fighter 2,3, and 4, Guilty Gear, King of Fighters), Maximum Tune 3, and a few others. They mostly have sweet Sega blast city cabs. It's a smaller location, but they skip the crap games you find at must "arcades" you find now. Pinballz is a huge arcade with excellent variety of classics and pinball machines from the 70s to today. Also it's b.y.o.b. . An excellent place for a date or a late night arcade bender. I can't stress enough how great these places are in the current stateside arcade abyss. Definitely stop by if you love arcades and are in the area! PLEASE share any other places you guys have found. I live in Arizona and it's pretty bleak finding arcades (even used game stores) here. Gameworks in Phoenix is the best I've found this far. Hope you like "Need for Speed arcade" and the like. Ugh..

I just found out about a massive 3 floor arcade in Bury, Greater Manchester, UK. Arcade machines and pinball, 100s of them. Gonna check it out in the next few weeks. It's called arcade club, and is the biggest arcade in Europe. The first rule of arcade club, is that it's ok to talk about arcade club.

Anyone know of any arcades in the south of the U.K.
Excluding seaside resorts. I mean a proper arcade with 80s/90s games. Pinball etc.

It was a series about hoarders and one episode was about a guy who had storage units filled with arcade cabinets. They persuaded him to set up a business - and arcade club was born.

Please do let us know, Manchester is close enough to me that it would make a good road trip.

Definitely mate, will give a little breakdown of the cabs they have. I'm looking forward to it. Last proper arcade I went to was a pinball heaven event in Birmingham, under the NEC. Has to be over 10 years ago.
