Hello all. I have recently brought out all my Sega Saturn stuff and also thought it would be nice to try and get an emulator running on my laptop. I have been doing lots of trial and error. It seems even the compatiblilty list for SSF doesn't seem to be 100% correct. Unless I'm doing something wrong. I know it says you don't need the bois files for loading games. I do have them though. Why would some games load no problem from disc and not load using a virtual drive trying the same game? Example Nights loads no problem from a disc, and doesn't load up using a virtual drive....

Bad CD image I'd guess.

nights works perfectly in SSF 12r4,
you need to have a virtual drive program such as daemon tools lite, then rip your game disc, make sure its in a .BIN and .CUE format. you load the game into damemon tools using the .CUE file and then run it in SSF. make sure in the settings you selected the virtual drive and not your pc's drive.

I am using Virtual CloneDrive. My game is in bin/cue format. I'll try out the Daemon tools program.

make sure the settings in ssf are correct so it loads the virtual drive and not your pc's disc drive.

Daemon Tools works alot better than virtual clone drive. I tried Virtua Cop in the old program and there was no sound. Now with Daemon I get sound and more games working. Loving the emulator SSF!

I use Daemon Tools lite to load my image files for SSF. I also use it to create the images from the CD, it creates them in a .MDX format. Works perfectly for nearly all of my Saturn games.

Thats great. I currently wish I had a USB Saturn controller. I hate using a PC controller that resembles a Playstation controller. Button layout just doesn't cut it. lol

I bought a PC Magic Box which allows you to use a Saturn, a DC or a PS2 controller on your pc through USB. Works pretty good. There are fairly inexpensive alternatives out there.

dont buy usb saturn pads or snes pads, they suck, get a converter that lets you use a REAL controller but connects to a USB. That's the only true way to enjoy the games properly if you ask me.
Though, I do use my 360 controller a lot too, works beautiful with nights, burning rangers, sega rally etc.

I recently tried both SSF 10 and SSF 12, and I think SSF 10 is much more stable, seems to play alot more games for me?

Stability is the wrong word. If certain games work thats a compatibility thing. It's odd that different games work with different versions but one thing is for sure, all the 'main' saturn titles and gems work flawlessly in SSF12
