Capcom released a load of 2D Beat 'em ups on the Saturn. ^_^ If I was only to get one, which should it be? Which is the pinnacle of their Saturn efforts? Street Fighter Zero 3? Alpha 2? One of the Marvel/X-men/DarkStalkers/VS games, etc?
What do ya' reckon?

For me, it's between Street Fighter Alpha 2 and Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge.
I only recently got Night Warriors and I cant stop playing it, especially with some mates round, It's excellent!

IMHO it's a tie between SFZ3 and X-men/marvel v's SF, although I rate most of Capcoms Saturn output and would say aim to get 'em all......They are cheaper now than they have been for years (except SFZ3 which hovers around £50-60)

Street Fighter Zero/Alpha 2 perferably the one thats on the street fighter collection. Streetfighter zero 3 maybe flashier but I still believe 2 to be a more solid game. The PAL copy of the street fighter collection is rare though!
Vs game wise Xmen vs Street Fighter
Vampire Savouir for a dark stalkers title. But you'll need the 4MB cart for both those games mentioned and of course a switched or JAP saturn.

See, I was thinking SFZ3, as it's the highest numbered iteration of SF for the Saturn, and just assuming the latest = greatest, etc....but then I read somewhere that some considered it not as good as SFA2 =P Parp. Meanwhile, I've just seen Darkstalkers very cheap on Ebay.
Something that does worry me though, is X-men: Children of the Atom had a glowing review in CVG, with 5/5, etc...then the next issue they had a piece at the front, withdrawing the high five, saying they hadn't seen/realised what a crap PAL conversion it was. Are the PAL versions of X-men and Darkstalkers, dodgy? Or okay?
Eitherway, I would probably like to have a definitive Street Fighter, ^_^, so .....SFZ3, or SFA2!?
And Marc - if it was one cross over then, would it be Marvel v.s. SF, or X-men v.s. SF, or is it purely down to taste in character roster?

Oooh....blackjackuk just answered most of my points. ^_^ I've an Action Replay Pro....will that suffice? [4MB RAM & Jap Converter in one, but output still via a PAL Saturn as it were, so still 50Hz]

The action reply pro has issues I believe with some Marvel vs Street fighter not sure about the other games though. It will play games in 50hz though which does acutally hamper the gameplay! But the differences between X-men vs SF and Marvel Vs SF are pretty much down to character tastes.
Marvel vs Street fighter has whats now become known as "super backgrounds" and you do get a cool sounding comentator. But the game mechanics haven't changed that much if at all.

I play XvsSF out of all of them. Zero 3 is great, but I don't have to time to really mess with the "isims" and the more advanced features.

Considering I only currently own Darkstalkers I can't really say but I can say that its a pretty high quality conversion of the original! I plan in the future on getting Alpha 2 and the Marvel vs Street Fighter games on the Saturn as well so I willl have to see.

pureley down to taste mate, I like Marvel just a touch more cause of Spidey, gameplay-wise there is nothing to seperate them.
And yeah, Vampire Saviour is a very cool game and worth having, very cheap as well.......
My take on SF is that SF2 is a common game on Saturn so loads of people have played it and rate it, whereas SFZ3 is very rare and jp only so most people have not played it, and therefore simply don't know how good it is.
Personally I have always preferred SFZ3 even though I dont own it yet, but I will!!!!!!! It is PERFECT and possibly the best use of a 4MB cart, shame more people have not played it and probably never will.......
so you can pick up a Jp copy of SF2 for £1.50 and aspire to SFZ3, a technically and visually superior game..... ;D

I know that Alpha 3 came out for the Saturn but the price tag is a little off pointing for the game considering I already own it for the ps1 and ps2.... I already own Alpha 2 as well but Alpha 2 is so cheap on the Saturn might as well get it. Perhaps someday I will invest in the Saturn Alpha 3

Perhaps someday I will invest in the Saturn Alpha 3 I also have Alpha 3 for PS1 and whilst I do play it from time to time, it's a piss poor conversion missing loads of animation frames with atrocious loading times and it's also a bit buggy. Yeah, SFZ3 is expensive, but if you want quality you have to pay, especially if it's a rare game to boot. SFZ3 is my top prority at the mo and definitely my next major purchase, my mate has it and it bloody rules, I kid ye not, does not compare to the crud PS1 iteration but thats a no brainer........

SFa2 for me, but you can't go too badly wrong with any on them. You can never habe too many Capcom fighters for your Saturn.

The cool thing about SFA3 on PS1 is the pocket station Fighter training... A fewture that was oddly not present in the Dreamcast version
